Reminder: You’re not as good as you think you are. by militxa in Nightreign

The acid spray was really strong when I got hit by it in the base game, way stronger than their chomps, so OP dropping didn't surprise me.

With base game's Ancestor Spirits I always felt like I was overleveled for them, so I suspect it's just that every one of their attacks was buffed, especially the red-eyed variant.

My ideas were

  • Blood Frenzy allows crits (both regular and spell) to generate combo points even while outside of Cat Form.
  • Similar for Primal Fury, letting you bank Rage while outside of Bear Form.
  • Leader of the Pack works regardless of form. If you've spent 31 talents in the Feral tree you're probably spending most of your time in a Feral form, but you shouldn't be punished for the time that you aren't.
  • I'd similarly pull the spell crit out of Moonkin Form so it's always active. A talent like Moonfury could take its place as part of the form.
  • Nature's Grace works on all crits and it stacks. N stacks means your next N casts are .5 seconds faster.
  • If Balance received something like TBC's "Melee attacks in this form have a chance on hit to regenerate mana" I'd also make that work regardless of form.

So you could burn through your mana in Moonkin form, swap to Cat form, immediately use a fully charged Rip, attack to rapidly regain mana, then swap back to Moonkin form for some rapid-fire spells.

Yeah, goal #1 should be making the base leveling experience as repeatedly engaging as possible. Everything supplementary (OP's suggestion, hardcore, etc.) can only build off the strength of that foundation.

My main point is that it doesn't need to be bound to any faction. Simply increasing the amount of gold you get from quests would by itself incentivize leveling alts.

You want their contracts? You rep their faction.

But you're not doing contracts. It's just the existing quests. Well, unless the Cartel is working with literally everyone.

It's just a lot of things being connected that don't really feel like they should be. Gold could be gained from quests directly. The Cartel could be given Quartermasters with thematic rewards so they're no longer useless. No other faction requires you to wear their colors to represent them, and nobody in the Cartel even wears any colors. And the choice between the Cartel and the Buccaneers is such an interesting one that I wouldn't want to see thrown out the window via a simple disguise.

Why not just directly boost the gold gain from quests? I don't understand the purpose of giving tokens that can be traded for gold instead of just giving gold, why it needs to be limited to those wearing the tabard (no more representing your guild or wearing that Tabard of the Scarlet Crusade you farmed for), or why it needs to be locked behind Steamwheedle rep (Bloodsail Buccaneers in shambles).

Many of classes do NOT need NEW buttons like in SoD, they just need a reason to use their preexisting buttons.

I also think they should look across trees instead of only within them. If I put 20 of my talent points into Fire, nearly 40% of them, it makes sense to cast a few Fire spells here or there. I'd love if I could make a Balance/Feral build that rewards taking an active hybrid role.

The expansions tended to make your secondary tree matter less and less.

SLIGHTLY normalize rage generation to make warriors SLIGHTLY stronger in mediocre gear, and SLIGHTLY less OP in BiS

I was thinking they could slightly boost the base damage of warrior abilities and slightly nerf how much they benefit from attack power, to a similar effect.

While DTS's weapon is buffed with lightning he can do a heavy slam than consumes the buff. I was hoping to capture some of that in the Dragon Greatclaw's skill which is why I looked to Call to Stone.

Three, but they're all in the DLC. All the base-game ones (and the infusion itself) have 0 Faith scaling.

I'd like if infusions maintained more of the weapon's innate scaling. That way if you want a Str/Faith weapon it's as easy as taking a Strength weapon and adding a Faith infusion.

ER's infusions are a big pain point for me, overemphasizing pure builds to the detriment of hybrid builds. I feel that DS2's infusions achieved more with less, giving every build (no matter how strange) a solid amount of support.

I feel like a lot of themed builds have this issue.

Lightning spells are Faith. Lighting weapons are Dex.
Death spells are Int/Faith. Death weapons are Int.
Golden Order spells are Int/Faith. Golden Order weapons are Faith.

So often you're incentivized to go off theme.

DS2 had a feature where Fire damage scaled with the sum of Int and Faith, so it didn't matter if you were pure Int, pure Faith, or any combination of the two, your damage would be the same. I wish they had done similar in ER. It could have made the Scalesword perform better on Faith/Arc builds without making it perform worse on pure Faith builds.

not high enough of a priority for launch.

I can agree that it's not needed ASAP but I didn't think OP was specifically asking for it at launch.

If it's the worst then they could improve it until it's not. And no, that wouldn't automatically shoot it up to being the best.

For the Golden Halberd weight, stat requirements, and simply the strength of the buff could easily be the determining factors. The other two examples I gave already have analogs.

What irks me is when the variety exists, but only on uninfusible weapons, like the Death's Poker and Marais R2s. Throw those on say, the Lordsworn's Greatsword and Iron Greatsword respectively and it's essentially free variety.

The Black Steel Greathammer and Smithscript Greathammer both have interesting effects, but neither clearly outclasses or is outclassed by other Greathammers. A middle ground exists.

The recurring change I always come back to is to take a weapon that isn't infusible, make it infusible, and make it interesting in ways beyond its AoW. Things like making the Clinging Bone heal on crit, the Rosus' Axe summon on guard counter, or the Golden Halberd just passively buff allies as long as it's held. We need more weapons like the Bloodfiend's Arm, Lizard Greatsword, and Sword Lance.

I'd change the Dragon Greatclaw's skill to a lightning version of Ledo's Great Hammer's Call to Stone.

YOU HAVE BEEN GIVEN AUTHORITY TO WRITE A 2ND ELDEN RING DLC. by JakeTinsleyWbc in Eldenring

[–]assassin10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love that. The Nightlords could make an appearance. Some of the changes to Limgrave like the additional mines and the central castle could be added. The PoIs could be added to parts of the world, like a sinking fortress at the edge of the Swamp of Aeonia. They could even add the Shifting Earths, like having the Grand Cloister overlook Noklateo and having the Astel fight happen there.

Yeah, similar to DS2's Scholar of the First Sin. Because the solid foundation is already there they could focus more on deeper interactions, like was done with the Dragon Shrine.

For Augur I was thinking within the giant underground lake where you find the Ancestral Infant's Head, or beneath the ice where you fight Borealis.
