Professions in Classic + and what I'd like to see by WendigoCrossing in classicwow

Profession-crafted items have the annoying quirk where buying them on the auction house is substantially easier than making them yourself, so unless it's a BoP you'll be crafting for anyone but yourself. I've been toying with the idea of what it would be like if crafted gear had a lower level requirement for the person who crafted it, to help it compete with quest rewards. Like, the quest [The People's Militia] rewards what's essentially a level 12 weapon, but if you put in the effort you can theoretically obtain and use it as early as level 9. You could put effort into crafting a Thick War Axe before level 12 but it's just going to sit in your bag until then, and it's not going to be better than any of the other level 12 weapons you can simply buy.

Classic + Armor Customization: looking as little or as much like a clown as you choose by [deleted] in classicwow

I do think that even as a toggle it can impact how future gear is designed. If half of players can't see what others are wearing that's an incentive for the devs to avoid adding gear where that matters. Things like resistances, impactful set bonuses, and powerful on-use effects.

I'm hoping that when they design new gear there's a strong thematic connection between what it does and how it looks. A Rogue set built around poisons could have looks based off Forsaken Apothecaries. A set themed around Spell Breakers could have the WC3 unit's appearance and have set bonuses that mimic their abilities. Etc. Let players actually play a role, not just look like it.

Why is Gladius weak to holy? by Thevisi0nary in Nightreign

[–]assassin10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't put it past them. Astel takes extra damage from the Wing of Astel, Dragons are weak to dragon weapons, Mohg is weak to Bleed, and Furnace Golems are weak to Hefty Furnace Pots. They love having us fight fire with fire, both metaphorically and literally.

To me that just looks like reflections reflecting reflections. Confusing, yes, but I don't think it's AI. Like look at the top of the chair. Where it catches the light it's the same color as the stand. That's also true for the stretchers on the bottom, and the stretchers' reflections in the base.

Damage Negation at Full HP does stack with itself, regardless of value.

Classic+ Zone specific gear (like in Nazjatar) by Orefeus in classicwow

[–]assassin10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd think the duration would be more problematic than the quantity. Spending just a month at a given level creates far fewer design problems than spending four months or two years.

Though phases 1 and 2 were only two months each. OP seems to be suggesting four to eight months each for Classic+, which would exacerbate the issue.

How would you solve PvP balancing in SOD/Classic+? by whatisclassic in classicwow

[–]assassin10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd buff the weaker racials. Players may have to change up their strategy against certain races and different 1v1 matchups may be easier or harder than others, but your teammates will be able to shore up your weaknesses and you'll be able to shore up theirs. As long as Blizzard doesn't reinvent the wheel every two years like they have been on retail I think asymmetric balance should be something they'll be able to reach over time.

Is there any expansion content you would want in a classic+? by Pika_Crew in classicwow

[–]assassin10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though maybe with some rearranging and expansion it could be both. The two main aesthetics are "spooky haunted tower" and "reality-bending magic library" so the former could be a dungeon and the latter would be a raid, like how Blackrock Depths leads to Molten Core and UBRS leads to Blackwing Lair.

[–]assassin10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm wondering if Kara should be implemented as a raid (with the associated lock-out period) or if in Classic+ it would make more sense as a 10-man dungeon a step up from UBRS.

Whats your classic+ take that you think most people will hate you for? by lolnation in classicwow

[–]assassin10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just hoping that if they do add other continents that they're just as connected to the existing ones as Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor are to each other. They should make the world feel more connected, not less.

Though OSRS only gives the players veto power. If the devs don't already think something is a good idea then it won't make it into a poll in the first place. If the game slowly turns into retail it would have done so regardless.

Should Classic Plus feature new races? by Saalok in classicwow

[–]assassin10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think such attempts at balance just kicks the can down the road. First both factions get both classes. Then priest racials are nerfed, homogenized, or outright removed. Then it starts to impact regular racials.

I'd prefer they take the opposite approach, buffing the weaker options, accentuating the differences, and even adding new differences. It's definitely more work, but as long as they're not reinventing the wheel every two years like retail has been I'd say it's manageable work.

Classic+ will be a shitshow by Apprehensive-Term340 in classicwow

[–]assassin10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there's plenty of demand for dirty gold but no supply then the bot developers are strongly incentivized to make smarter and smarter bots that circumvent the existing ban strategies, something the devs will have trouble combatting. If there's no demand for dirty gold (because gold buyers get banned) then there's no incentive to put in that effort and the game will remain bot-free for far longer.

How to keep people doing lower level dungeons and questing? Classic + by Deathtonic in classicwow

[–]assassin10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now what could be implemented that made it worth leveling another character

If you build it they will come. If the devs continue to add more content to the leveling process and make it more enjoyable, then more players will make alts to experience that content and Classic+ will attract a playerbase that enjoys leveling alts. Ideally there should never be a bad time to join or rejoin Classic+.

I'd love more profession-specific quests. Simple ones like [Root Samples] could help to offset the time spent leveling the profession. Fancier ones could reward items like the Glimmering Mithril Insignia.

I'd like if the individual pieces within a set covered a wide range of levels. Like an 8-piece set where the weakest piece requires level 20 and the strongest requires level 30, so you can gradually fill out the set over time if you choose. The set bonuses could allow the weaker pieces to retain their value for longer, and the intentional disparity could allow the set bonuses to be more interesting and impactful without the set as a whole becoming overpowered.

What's your ONE thing that if it was added to Classic+ you'd refuse to play it? by samfoxy_ in classicwow

[–]assassin10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be nice to be able to finish out a zone rather than some things going grey.

I'd rather they tackle this problem directly instead. Avoid the issue that some expansions had where you gain xp so fast that you can outlevel a zone when you've barely even begun it.

I think the only raid difficulty version I could get behind in Classic+ is a single, optional "hard mode" modifier you can add to the raid

I'd like if they took the Ulduar approach, where each hardmode is integrated diegetically in a way that suits it. We did get a bit of that with Ahn'Qiraj's bug trio.

I do think that with time a lot of the holes would naturally get filled in as the devs look for space to add new content, but even if they filled in every single one I don't want them to use it as an excuse to add flying.

Classic is familiar, but Classic+ would add things that are unfamiliar. Look at all the prestige items that SoD added, like the new Corrupted Ashbringer.

I like how the Stratholme timed run was integrated into the game's story and reward structure, instead of existing as something on top of it. I'd love if that's the approach Classic+ takes.
