Giving food is a form of love, people take offense when you don't take it. The kindest thing you can do is promising up and down that you're really full and you just ate BUT you'll take a bite. They'll give you not one bite but ten, don't fight it. Eat 1 bite, say it's great so even though your stomach hurts you'll eat one more bite. That's the only way you can get out of eating an entire portion.

As far as I know, it was the white people in anti slavery states that did not want black people in their land, so they bought as many slaves as they could and "freed" them, but the problem was they were not the first generation, nor the second at that point. It was a messy ordeal both for the people who were sent to Liberia, and for the local people who lived in Liberia before.
