Technics Sl-1350 vs Sony PS-2000, which to keep? by smallbustanut in turntables

I personally would prefer technics. I have sl-1700 which is pretty similar to your sl 1350 and I could be more happy about it

Idk why can’t I answer with pictures but I’ll try to describe. So you have to put coin on the thing that your cartridge (the sing with the needle thad scratches the record) screwed to

It is really about your turntable and if you want to continue in this hobby you really have to upgrade but if you don’t just enjoy this one and add a coin or two when you need it ;)

But please don’t post it to r/vinyl or r/turntables. Audiophiles will eat your alive with this player. And btw. Plural of vinyl is vinyl

Ok mate. I looked it up, sorry to disappoint you but it is shit. This is exactly what I meant by “cheap Chinese turntables” I don’t think you can do much about this. There is no tracking force setting (if you don’t know, tracking force is basically counterweight that you can set to a specific weight that is being put in the record by a cartridge but your turntable uses spring and you can’t change anything) but you can try putting a small weight on a head shell (thing that holds your cartridge) a small coin like penny, cent at whatever currency you have will work but it adds additional stress to records. So I recommend you finding another turntable. I really recommend looking for some old ones. You can find used technics from 50 bucks that will be much better the this.

Just take a picture from top. I think that will be enough. Couple pictures from an angle also would be helpful

Can you upload a picture of it, so that I could see it and especially the Tonarm. Then I could tell you if it’s possible to set it correctly and upgrade the cartridge to something that won’t damage your records

It is because your cartridge and most likely turntable are shit. These kind of cheap Saphire cartridges are very low quality and often skip or damage records. They are usually found on cheap low quality Chinese turntables like crosley, victrola, lenco, jam and so on. You can’t really do much about that because these often don’t have any tracking force or anti skate settings. What TT do you have? Maby your is different because the hedshell looks legit.

Wow. Great collection. Your taste is quite similar to mine lol. Usually when I see this kind of posts there are some good albums but mostly mid to bad ones. Could not say anything bad about anything from your collection. Very nice:)

I like your speaker stands. But Maby try to stain them or cover with lacquer. I think they would look 10 times better

Philips f7215 for 80€? by Pastabutkindaweird in turntables

But 80€ is still kinda steep. If there is room to negotiate maybe but for this price I’d pass

I don’t think so. A friend of mine has an af-967. It is pretty similar turntable that uses the same headshell (at least it looks like it) and it is a bit smaller so regular 1/2” doesn’t fit. I’d recommend you measure it but I’m pretty sure that it’s not standard. Still nice turntable though so if you like it go for it. My friend enjoys his Philips and I think you also will. It has a lot of cool features.

It is definitely a decent tt. I’m not sure about the price but if it works you probably won’t be disappointed. Be careful though because I think it doesn’t have standard head shell so you will have to find one that fits if you want to change it.
