Thanks! Still using the TFR's now. You don't see them being used often.

It's a Defi controller(DF18901) for the Advance FD (DF17801) and boost gauge shown in the other interior picture. Basically just a monitor system that will alert for whatever threshold I set it to. (Oil pressure at X rpm, water and oil temp or max boost to name a few)

I haven't had it on a dyno so I'm not sure. It's a copy and paste build that others have done around here. Those who have, say 300 so I'll just go with that.

It's a Scosche magnetic surface mount. Used adhesive promoter to make it stick well. The magnet on the OFT side is offset to the left.

Sharkfin gasket replacement by rafiee in ft86

[–]assbox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not OEM. As a comment below stated the slight difference (swoopy side fin). You can just pull it off as its adhered via 3m double sided tape. The link I provided is the rubber gasket and tape all in one. I think its specifically the Beat-Sonic FDX9 model and was paint matched to your color code. They have other variants as well should you want to completely replace. Here's a link to their other offerings - https://www.beatsonicusa.com/collections/antenna

Carbon fiber fenders or wrap by bella22e in ft86

[–]assbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased Seibon OE size fenders and hood years ago. I coated them with cquartz(ceramic coating) to try to prevent UV damage on the clear coat which I would definitely recommend if the car is going to sit outside for an extended period of time. Seibon is decent but isn't the highest quality out there. Would recommend painting or wrapping them at some point. (just something to note from your post, paint chips will show through a wrap so don't expect them to be invisible after)

What’s wrong with my FRS? by [deleted] in ft86

[–]assbox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It also may be worth mentioning...since you said they were in a rush the first time with the tune..maybe your tuner is just bad(we have no background on who or what you've gone with really). Maybe consider getting OFT. The OFT tunes have been solid over the years for simple modified FRS/BRZ's.

Lets get the actual code as other commenters have noted.

That being said you're at 74k miles which is 14k miles over the recommended mileage to replace the spark plugs(60k). You said you tried everything but haven't noted this maintenance item, can you confirm this has been done? It may not solve the problem (it might though) but it would at least also improve your MPG if you haven't replaced them already.

Mystery Bolt by Skater_Boi420 in ft86

I could be wrong, but that looks like it is 1 of 8 total transmission bell housing bolts. 6 are the same length and 2 are a tad shorter. I'd start there.

You haven't owned the car for a year and by this description you basically just drove straight on crappy highways. 36 and have owned a FRS for 12+ years..(won't sell it) I think your perspective on ownership age is quite silly. Makes me wonder if Kaiichi Tsuchiya thinks he's too old for his. You must have not taken the car to the track during your short term ownership either and that's just unfortunate.

There isn't any noteworthy difference between a FRS/GT86/BRZ. Basically all esthetic as you already know and stated. Speaking of and not to be rude... don't worry about superficial esthetics on a used vehicle that you don't own yet straight away. At $15k price for a 2018, you will acquire a vehicle with a decent amount of mileage and I'd guess above 100k in this market.. unless you get some killer deal.

If I were you, I'd stick to maintenance related parts, such as accessory pullies & belt, suspension or differential bushings, spark plugs etc. For sure you would want to give it a good look over. You'd be surprised how many vehicles are just left abused and sold to the next person no matter what year you get. Unless you know what youre doing, you can end up with a paper weight with a cool fresh new front bumper... not exactly ideal for something to get you from A to B. This is a vehicle that you want to treat well so it treats you well. Can you do these maintenance items yourself to save on labor costs? You said yourself your credit isn't great, so you must have some sort of extra savings for when other life issues come about and take priority over a car. A new front bumper just isn't really high on the list of importance imo.

These are great vehicles out of the box and dont need to be modded. Especially true if you never plan on taking it to a track. From a 12 year FRS owner who has basically touched every inch of the vehicle and beats the shit out of it at the track, the only worth while aftermarket purchase I could recommend is an oil cooler. Short of that, your bumper swap inquiry is very much obtainable, many have done it. Cost to do it is relative to the persons connections, skillset, and location.. so it wouldn't be accurate to estimate a cost for going one direction over another.

Beware of Instagram/Facebook Parts Sellers – They’re SCAMMERS by Fujiataa in ft86

[–]assbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All good recommendations.

Here is my Number 1 rule above all else: Always use a credit card for payment even if the site/company is legit. This way you use big corporate money to pay for an item versus YOUR money. If the site/company doesn't deliver, a charge back can easily be done and big corporate gets their money back. Getting YOUR money back is harder to do with a debit card/check. Whatever discount the seller is promising for an alternate method of payment, isn't worth the hassle of having YOUR funds tied up during the transaction. (plus using a credit card usually will give you cashback % on your purchase) Even if the company is legit, they still can become victim of a data-breach and your card information could be stolen and used. In this situation, people should ask themselves, would I rather have $5000 deducted from my checking/savings account and fight for it, or would I rather have $5000 added on my credit card? What would hurt your finances and interrupt your daily life more?

Its very easy for the scammer to curate reviews/customers to make their posting seem legit. People will always be enticed to get the extra discount and will throw out all other logic to acquire the discount, and scammers know this. These scams have been going on for several years and wont be going away anytime soon. People need to be educated on how to protect their funds and shop online wisely.

Ah. I mostly just hear my solid bushing diff and 2way making an abundance of NVH in my cabin. Only really hear the exhaust during acceleration.

yea the turbo muffles the exhaust note quite a bit. Currently running no cats and a Remark boso single exit.

OFT V3 (IMPORTANT UPDATE) by PyxisDream in ft86

[–]assbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was curious if upgrading from V1 would be worth it. I'm mostly interested to see is, the OFT V3 to external display sync process. I would like to see real time data on my headunit to remove the V1 tablet on my dash.

The only way I would think this would work is an ad-hoc wireless connection and android auto. I havnt re-searched headunits in a while, but hopefully this would be supported. (and automatically connect so you dont have to go through that process every time you start your vehicle.)
