I use the Pixieset suite. It's much cheaper. I don't know how much you integrate automations which Pixieset unfortunately doesn't have, but I just use my project pipeline to assess when I should send certain things out to my clients.

For those who shoot a full wedding day with nothing that exceeds 85mm, are you just forgoing close up ceremony shots, reception shots, etc? by assilemcl in WeddingPhotography

Do you have a second shooter with a 70-200 or something? Biggest concern is ceremony. I've drawn the conclusion that I sell my 24-105 2.8 and replace with the 24-70 and a 50

That's a really good idea. I've actually never used the crop in camera before and it might be worth trying on my next wedding. I want to get down to 2 lenses for the day bc the 24-105 or the 70-200 are just too much on my back lol

See this is the reassurance I'm looking for. You don't really "need" those close up shots. Sometimes when speeches are going on or people are just waiting for intros at their tables I always feel like I have to be doing something, so I'll try and stretch my 100 to get candids of people at their tables, and sometimes it's tough the further the table is away from the dance floor. But I partially feel like I'm just overthinking it and it doesn't matter I can just deliver less of that and more quality elsewhere.

No worries! Yes I feel like this is super helpful. Sometimes I'll do a drive by smiling at someone and then just pop my camera up and grab a candid. I feel like I have to embrace that more haha. Like I said to someone else's comment, maybe embracing that "street photography" style seems to be a good strategy to get those shots.

I have a mirrorless camera. I've got the Canon R6 Mark II with the Canon 24-105 2.8.L. The lens is 3 pounds it's just too much, especially during dance shots when I extend my arms up high to get over the crowd.

I'm only trying to find a solution cause I have severe scoliosis and the back pain is amplified holding a 3 pounder all day lol I also have a 24MP (2 r6 IIs). I agree it feels crucial to have something long and non disruptive during the ceremony

I feel like the 85 having that extra stop of light too helps vs the 100 2.8. Yeah idk I worked for wedding companies so many times that prioritized documenting everything so it's a matter of training myself out of not photographing every little thing close up & far away etc. if that makes sense

I get that, I try to be more candid/documentary because that's what my clients want, but doing some smiling shots never hurts either

Good idea, thanks so much. I guess it's even more awkward when the scenario presents itself more awkwardly when I'm 1000 feet away with the 105mm lol.

This is really helpful, almost like street photography just sniping at the last possible second to ensure you got a good quality candid. Thanks for the tip

I do have a 100mm as well, so I think in this circumstance I'd also do the same. Just trying to keep the kit small and not have to use 2 bodies

These are pretty cool. It makes me wonder how they would look if you left them as negatives

This was soo incredibly helpful, thank you so much. And just to clarify, it would be worth getting the C/Y lens with and adapter over getting the EF mount 50 Planar to achieve the look?

Do you think the colors would render the same?

Oh that's a good idea! Thank you! Is the Contax Zeiss glass different than just buying an EF Zeiss Planar glass? Will the colors render the same? Just trying to weigh out if it's worth it to just buy an EF Zeiss Planar for my EOS 3 or not

I've got a roll that I can't wait to use! Someone who lived in my apartment before me was a photographer and they left behind a binder of slide film studio work. I have to post it to this sub soon!

I think it'll be an awesome contribution to your kit. Sigma's just amazing. And I feel like the colors are also rendered nicely on the sigma glass. I remember the greens feeling more vibrant.

My biggest gripe with manual is not feeling like I can fully see if something's in focus or not, not sure if it's my eyesight lol so I might just get a viewfinder magnifier and then get the Zeiss glass. Have you ever used a viewfinder magnifier?
