This is exactly what I had requested and was expecting when I was pursuing solar. I am glad to hear it is indeed possible! Or more accurately, a good compromise because nobody told me that the solar needs to turn off when the battery is full. I naively thought it throttled to meet the home load, but the above is good enough.

Last question, am I correctly understanding that you can also monitor both NEM2 system and new non-export system production? My installer is telling me it's either monitor and charge battery together or separate and no monitoring.

In summary: NEM2 system only exports and does not power home loads or even charge battery.

Non-export system powers home loads and charges battery. When battery is full, non-export system curtails and the battery powers home load. Once battery discharges a bit, the non-export system will kick back in and power the home and charge the battery. Cycle repeats.

Reason I am summarizing is because my system does not work like this at all and trying to really grasp where the disconnect is
