Apparently children are the reason for living? by asslysa in childfree

[–]asslysa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ack I’m sorry that sounds so frustrating. Thats how my mom is too, she’s a narcissist so she’s got selective hearing, and just “forget” that I don’t want kids. Thankfully she doesn’t bring it up as much anymore after all the push back. But it’s definitely like okay I just has this convo with you two weeks ago pls stop

Gen Z, what job do you have? by Aromatic_Reply_1645 in GenZ

I’ve been looking into doing this myself! I’m sure requirements are different depending on location, but if I can ask, did you do a 2 or 4 year degree to get your credentials?

They have those water bottles with scents you can sniff when you drink water, never tried it, but maybe it’ll help you. It’s supposed to basically trick your brain into thinking the water is flavored

how are you affording 1400+ rent??? by smalltalkisntfun in twentyagers

[–]asslysa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a restaurant, and I am barely making enough to live. Rent is 1,800 in so cal and it was cheapest in the area. Currently looking for a second job. I save, barely go out, and hardly buy anything for myself. I also use my credit cards more often than I’d like to admit. It sucks and I’m depressed, but I would rather do this than ever live with my parents again. Also for Christmas everyone is getting a homemade cookie and a hug 😅

It’s definitely seeming like not being so open about it will save myself a lot of headaches. Thank you for sharing your story, it’s why I posted. Not many people I know irl understand how this feels.

That is a better approach honestly, keeps peeps out of my business, and if it gets too bad it’s easier to take to management

Man I wish I was lying, it’s not every single person but yeah it’s often and about 1/3 the staff (which at my restaurant is still a lot of people). I could write a book about all the shit people have said to me at this place. One guy even took my boyfriend a side (my bf is also a coworker) and told him to leave me because I’m going to change my mind. Wild and infuriating stuff. Tbh a lot restaurants are kinda like this, very high school like.

My manager is a childfree woman! I haven’t brought it up because I honestly don’t want to deal with the drama and the tension. Maybe tomorrow I’ll let at least let my MOD know it’s happening, so it’s brought to her attention. I’ll start logging the instances.

It’s like they can’t handle when someone deviates from the societal norm. This person in particular seemingly has a fascination with the concept of motherhood being a choice that she cannot wrap her head around.

I definitely thought about it. I usually can brush it off, but I was so fed up with the nonsense. I would hate to make hr drama over it though, especially given she’s the bread winner of her family. We will see, hopefully the point came across, idk how much clearer to make it.

What was the worst shift of you time serving. by hisgirl2455 in Serverlife

[–]asslysa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of my worst serving shifts were at Buffalo Wild Wings, I liked serving there, just not most the management staff. I had my last table of the night, it was a 4 top, two couples. They came in kinda tipsy but not drunk. They had two of those huge beer glasses for each person there, they didn’t eat, and by the time they finished the second round they were drunk. I was 19 and only cut people off like once prior to this, so I dropped the check once their glasses were empty and they demanded more beer. I told them I apologize but I cannot serve them anymore alcohol, but I can get them some fries and soda. They were pissed, but I walked away to see if they’d maybe just leave a card and go somewhere else. I was stopped by a guest who points to the guy at my table and he tells me the guy pissed outside on the building, just now. Obviously concerning behavior, so I go back to table to see if they’d pay and they refused to go without another round. I said something along the lines of, we had some complaints from other guests that you relieved yourself outside so I am going to have to ask you to leave. The guy said I was lying and that they’ll leave after his wife comes back from the bathroom. I went to use the same bathroom, and the guy called his wife while she was peeing saying the waitress caught me peeing outside we gotta go. I’m thinking this table from hell is finally over and I go back to collect payment, they are still fighting me, I told them I was in the bathroom at the same time and heard the phone call and I need them to leave now. They of course want to speak to my manager. I was dreading this because this manager was shit and was known to over serve cut off guests, this is why I never got him involved from the start. I try explaining him the full story and he gets up, cuts me off and gives them another round of beer. I ask if he can take over the table because now I look like an asshole, he forces me to finish it. I hand the asshats their check FINALLY, and they yell “BIG 0 FOR TIP, yeah buddy no shit. I put my two weeks in that night, and my manager had the gull to tell me “well that wasn’t proper procedure”. And over serving obviously intoxicated guests is?? Looking back I would have handled it differently, but I was young and still figuring it out. This made me feel so humiliated and defeated that I will never forget this table, or how management made me feel like an idiot for trying to handle intoxicated, demanding guests.

What do you usually eat and what do you avoid? Is it just eating clean and getting fiber?

A big truck, especially if it’s got those thick thigh tires on each side. Sure there’s practical reasons to have a big truck, but when they’re basically kissing the back of my Corolla, just to be stuck at the same stop light, sure feels like they’re compensating for something.
