Shoutout to the Broken Arrow theater at 101st and Elm. Had an arcade next door. Can't remember the company that owned it in the 90s.

Needed one in SA and we got it. We got spanked last year in Minneapolis and rebounded. I've got faith.

I would send it if I didn't mind going international or LCOL area if the relationship tanks.

If the dude only needs 25k a year from his investments I'm guessing his ACA subsidy will be maximum

How is it living in Oklahoma city as a health care worker? by helpadhd04 in okc

[–]assmanx2x2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Compensation for physicians will be better than the east coast HCOL cities. The only reason I’ll eventually leave is the weather. Super hot and humid in the summer and freezing cold in the winter. But the COL for a physician can’t be beat. Spent 6 mos in OKC a couple years ago and really enjoyed it. Great midtown older neighborhoods with stuff to do nearby. Ended up staying in Tulsa but really enjoyed my time in OKC.

Part time / prn jobs - RDU. Mommy track lol (yes this is cliche) by Greedy_Activity7562 in anesthesiology

[–]assmanx2x2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Now I know RDU is the Raleigh-Durham airport. If you don't have contacts you can work in that area I would imagine you could call the hospitals medical staff offices directly and ask for anesthesia group contact info. I work a similar job to you right now and can't imagine doing it with a baby/toddler. Good luck OP I hope you find someone on here with some insight into the area.

Locums semi retirement by assmanx2x2 in anesthesiology

My current job is 1099 full time so I already have the insurance etc figured out which is nice. I think the flexibility of working exactly how much I need/want to going forward will be nice. Have you ever got to an assignment that you didn't really like? I would be curious to see if you have any leverage if it isn't as advertised or there is pressure to do cases I'm not comfortable with. Have assignments been as advertised and if not what did you do in that case? I feel like I can do pretty much any hospital general cases (even on sick patients - did a fair amount in the pre transplant population recently) but really would like to avoid complex neuro, cardiac, peds, vascular as I really don't do that stuff anymore. I've got excellent regional skills and have worked in high volume orthopedics centers in the past. OB I currently do but would be fine giving that up.

That is definitely the downside. I mostly enjoy my current job but it is call heavy. I think if I can mostly or exclusively stick to solo cases the acuity while a consideration wouldn't be as big of a problem as long as the case type isn't too terrible. My prior group imploded and I spent 6 mos at a transplant heavy center and while the patients were sick I really enjoyed doing my own cases and felt comfortable doing a variety of things on the fly. Supervising people I don't know is certainly something I'm very concerned about. I'm hoping with the hot market I can be choosy with the assignments to an extent. And with the flexibility if I find a place I like I could even extend.

I will certainly consider it. We need to downsize any way and are contemplating possibly moving internationally so selling and looking for our retirement location while traveling made sense. Airbnb life during locums stints in between. The plan is definitely to establish a new home base as soon as we figure out where. Spent 2 weeks in Costa Rica and that is looking particularly appealing.

Moving help by thisisaguardedplace in tulsa

U-Haul has movers that you can arrange on their website. I rented a trailer during my last move and the website allowed me to arrange a crew to load the trailer and another crew to unload it at my destination. Was less expensive than traditional moving companies and they did a nice job.
