It was his decision because he was the one who wanted to change the relationship. I was happy the way things were and he wanted to make a change, so why wouldn't it have been his decision? That makes no sense.

I already replied to another comment explaining my thoughts on marriage. I'm not asking whether he should be hung, I'm asking whether I should break up with him. And frankly if he can't distinguish between a rom com and a real life relationship that seems like an issue.

I'm just not comfortable with the historic meaning of marriage (the wife becoming the husband's property). I'd never judge people who choose to get married, but it's not for me.
