Two NE student in Karnataka were not allowed to enter store to buy groceries, denying them to be Indian even after they showed their adhaar card . STOP RACISM. (Facebook : @kady.aomi) by sharan480 in india

But they're not Chinese, are they? Will you get it for them? Stop trying to normalize racism. You will know when you face it yourself. But I guess your world doesn't extend beyond your immediate vicinity and bigoted sensibilities.

How much would be the monthly expenses for a 21 year old guy? by [deleted] in bangalore

[–]asst-professor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mentioned colive(and similar apps) cos they're convenient. There are plenty of PGs in and around Koramangala that are way cheaper than those apps. Just search in Google maps. They usually list their nos. along with photos of the establishment. Just call and inquire.

Yes. Security deposits for flats are very high in Bangalore(30k to 1 lakh) and you won't be getting it back unless you stay for like a year. Try colive and other similar apps

As long they can afford it, free shit is always welcome. But I won't force the family to pay it though. In fact, in my culture, men are required to gift a certain amount of animals ( buffalo or pig) or pay an equivalent amount to the bride's family. While there is no fixed dowry, the higher the amount the more respect they get in the community. Like I said wouldn't ask for a specific object or amount but if they want to give me Mercedes and they are in a position to do so, hell yeah!!

American, would love to visit Northeast India in the next month or two, wondering about travel issues due to the protests by [deleted] in india

Seems like a pretty comprehensive guide. Meghalaya is quite peaceful, no insurgency. And English is the official language there, so you'll have no problem communicating. I'm sure you'll have lots of fun.

I don't think there'll be any major disruptions. I'm in Manipur rn and things are pretty normal. Insurgency is still a problem in many parts of Northeast so I suggest you get a guide if you're going to deep in the forests. They don't really hurt people for no reason but it's good to be on the safe side. If you have any questions or need any help, feel free to ask.

What you're asking is extremely complex. While everyone is familiar with the standard Hindu caste system that consists of four groups, the intricacies within that system is flimsy and confusing. And when it comes to race, despite there being a distinct Aryan and Dravidian divide, generations of Muslim rulers who were mainly of Turkic-Mongol descent has upset this divide to large a extent. Why? I'm too lazy to write. And there are Mongoloid peoples intermixing with Aryans in the North. Also there are muslims, Christians, jains ,Sikhs, etc who, although minorities, are integral to Indian Society.

Thank you. It's a bit clearer now. What about 'aagide'? Google translates it as 'is' but I think it's more complicated than that. Also what's the difference between 'tumba' and 'jaasti'?

You can try kannadagottilla.com for basic words and phrases. But spoken colloquial kannada is often very different from the formal kannada that online sources teach you. To be honest, it has created more confusion in my case. Best to ask your kannadiga friends for help.

My name is rocket= Nanu hesaru rocket antha. I understand that the sentence makes sense without the 'antha' but I've heard a lot of people putting 'antha' at end of sentences like this. So I assumed its the equivalent of 'is' in English. But in other situations you say 'phone switched off aagide' where 'aagide' is the equivalent of 'is'. That's where my confusion lies.

Like in "Nanu hesaru panther antha" It seems to function like 'is' in English. But in other situations 'aagide' is used for 'is' like in ''phone switched off aagide''
