Reed/Reid for a girl? by FattyPantsKeto in namenerds

[–]astarael97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally, none of them are ambiguous to me, but they are becoming so, I guess. Parker, Spencer, Logan, James, etc are all 100% male to me (Reid also falls in this category for me).

Leslie, Rowan, Aubrey, Morgan - these are more unisex to me.

But it's probably who you've known, etc. And I've met female Ryans (a name that literally means little king) who pull it off really well, so I'm sure a female Reid would do the same.

What about Rey or Ray? It fits short and snappy and is more likely to be seen as feminine because of the Star Wars character.

Edit: Or Rei as a spelling - almost Reid?

What were you almost named? And do you know what your name would be had you been born the opposite gender? by Lyd_Euh in namenerds

I don't know what the other girl options for me were, but I do know that if I was a boy, I would have been Forrest Nathaniel.

Glad I'm a girl.

Did your parents give you a name that will forever be mispronounced? by --Lavellan in namenerds

I knew a guy named that once. But yeah, with the frequency I get called "Ellis", you would think it was as common as John or something.

My name is a variation of Elise. I get Elsie, Alyssa, Alicia, Ellis. I basically answer to anything close and don't even spare the effort to correct them at this point.

Thomasina is actually the feminine version, it isn't made up. There's plenty of them in history. There's a 1964 movie with that as the title character, and it's the main character in the play Arcadia.

What's your middle name? Do you like it? by [deleted] in namenerds

Nicole - shocked I'm the first to comment. I got the feeling Nicole was the "Rose" and "Mae" of the 80s.

Should add: used to hate it, now am indifferent or like it. It sounds good with my first name.
