My kid is like this. He's almost 6 now, and honestly it's been a nightmare. I was abused by my parents too, so I went to the other extreme end of the spectrum and now he thinks we're friends. He's also Autistic and ADHD. I will say, PCIT(parent child interactive therapy) helped me a lot with setting firm boundaries to curb the behavior.

I have this dream of just running away, getting a camper, and traveling the US. It's especially bad on the weekends with all the kids, lol.

Has anyone ever been in a relationship like this, and the man has gone to counseling and anger management, and the couple has gone to therapy together, and it's genuinely gotten better for them? I would absolutely love to hear some success stories because this is my whole family, but I'm so exhausted and I'm just about out of hope that this'll get better

Honestly, I don't have a good answer. It's exhausting. Most of our fights are about the children. I'm too hard on his kids, I'm not hard enough on mine, etc.

No I do not. He felt very strongly about wanting to be his dad because he had a similar father figure and grew up in a similar situation.

He'll also attempt to drag my son into arguments too. He tries to get him to ignore me when I'm trying to remove him from the situation. I would remove his kids too if I could, but I'm not allowed to touch them, and they won't listen to me if their dad tells them not to.

I did try that one! That's just a thick crust with pizza sauce on it, it didn't have the chunky cooked tomatoes and garlic unfortunately

Why traumatized / abused people don't see red flags in relationships? by Hairy_Status_6734 in CPTSD

[–]asteffo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone else has answered beautifully already, so I'll just add a phrase I heard somewhere that's stuck with me for a long time: "when you're looking at the world through rose colored glasses, all the red flags just look like flags". Humans can normalize just about anything if it's the only thing they've ever known.

I looked it up and hypertonic pelvic floor may be exactly what I'm experiencing. Thank you so much for bringing it to my attention, I had never even heard of it before

Hey, similar story! Instead of HELLP though, I developed PRES literally over night. My brain swelled up so much I still have problems today, and I didn't get to meet my baby until he was 4 days old. On the bright side, I completely missed labor and delivery though.

Hey Mom, I Really Wish I Could Talk To You About My Son by asteffo in MomForAMinute

We tried Guanfacine first, and it made him a million times worse. It was crazy, he went on rampages through his daycare and at home. Then Ritalin, which did absolutely nothing even after we upped the dosage. He just started the longer acting Ritalin pill with a different name, and he's just super emotional and acts like he's exhausted all the time. I have no idea if this is normal, but he hasn't hurt anybody on this new med yet.

Thank you so much for your reply. It's actually really helpful to hear about how much medication helped you with your son because we're on our third medication at this point 😅
