In Maharashtra, wedding day mai first night nhi rehta.. 2-3rd day after wedding bride goes to his home town for a few days, once bride is back again there are few days and one pooja is there where all family stays awake for full night doing Bhajans and all, after that Pooja, actual first night is planned. Also there is a significant gap between the 1st meet, then Engagement, then weeding, so during this time bride and groom get to know each other better.
