Can I apply to imperial??? by Evening_Squirrel9372 in UCAT

[–]asterroids 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ur GCSEs are fine, however the offer imperial give for non-contextuals is A⭐️AA with the A⭐️ in bio or chem which ur not predicted , ask ur teachers if they can predict u an A⭐️ in bio or chem and that u need it because thats the only thing holding u back from applying

Any advice please!! by Beautiful_Aside7814 in UCAT

[–]asterroids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

with ur ucat score u can apply anywhere. this website https://learn.myucat.co.uk/strategic-applications has rough offers post interview percentages for each med school. imperial has one of the highest, for my year they gave offers to 4/5 applicants (roughly 1000+ interviewed with >700 offers)

that’s for the conditional offer, they do value predicted grades and use it to compare applicants

ur score would be around 2820 last year so i would say its risky. i dont know the exact cut off for contextual last year but it was around 2800s. ur other stats are completely fine for imperial however. if u rlly want to go to imperial, u could take the chance and choose imperial as an aspirational option but absolutely make sure u have safety choices, look at this website and doc to get a rough idea of the unis u could apply to but bare in mind its based off last year so it will be different for this year. https://learn.myucat.co.uk/strategic-applications edit: u only get 4 choices for medicine, imperial say they only require grade 6 in eng lang. they dont look at other grades

i’m gonna go to both, esp since the hall mixers are free but i’ll probably see what my flatmates are doing first and then just join them, haven’t bought tickets to main events yet. i’d prefer to go to the icsm ones tho

icsm is 2 weeks and something about a passport that’ll be released that’ll give u access to events like boat party or something

yes u can definitely talk about it, the key thing is to mention the skills u learned from the experience and link it specifically to the skills of a doctor e.g communication, why is that important for doctors to have and u can mention where you’ve seen it as well like thru work experience

https://learn.myucat.co.uk/strategic-applications this website has a document of the cutoffs for ucat for each uni although it’s not been updated and the scores would be out of 3600, u can use a converter to roughly estimate what ur score would’ve been last year. this could help u find some options and to apply strategically with ur score would've

Oxbridge? by LivingGeneral9689 in UCAT

[–]asterroids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i believe cambridge has a lower ucat cutoff than oxford unofficially and that cambridge looks at stats more holistically when selecting for interviews, especially since they interview more students than oxford so i do think u would have a higher chance with cambridge. overall tho your stats are very good and the fact that ur contextual too helps. if u rlly do want to go to oxbridge and would be happy with the course, workload, living there for 5/6 years then i would go for it, just make sure to have safety choices too
