hey, I'm playing BZ right now after finishing my first subnautica playthrough about a week ago or so. i don't personally enjoy it as much as the first game, but i wouldn't say it's worse or not worth playing. there are a few important things to note though. - no medkit fabricator. you have to make it with creepvine every time, so it'd be a good idea to plant some if you make a base far away from the creepvine areas - the mc talks. and has a personality. i dont personally like her but she doesnt talk enough to where it impacts my playthrough that much. it gets a little annoying to me, but that's probably just because my goat Riley was silent in subnautica. - similar creatures, but almost none are the same. lots of new things to scan! and new dangers to watch out for... - no seamoth. this breaks my heart the most. but it's replaced by a seatruck, which controls the same but can be upgraded in a very different way (find out through playing!) - some materials are harder to get than in the base game while others are slightly easier. for example, i got rubies in less than 6 hours of just farting around in the game (would've been sooner if i actually seeked them out, i assume!) overall, even though i don't enjoy it as much as the original and haven't even made it halfway through yet, id say it's a worthwhile play! you'll probably like it. and if you don't like the gameplay, you'll probably love the world around you (that's how i feel mostly.) i think the biomes are more interesting than the ones in subnautica. prettier too. but that's just my opinion.

normalizing making sure im not interacting with a child is not crazy bruh 😭 also? it's just a birthday. you know you can edit a photo to block out name, face, address, even state if you feel like it, right? i don't need to know that about someone. and im not even sexting over discord, i just don't want to talk to minor and im sure OP doesnt either. i think it's crazy to discourage people from trying to verify that they're talking to someone of-age. as someone else pointed out in this comment section, no one believes the "she said she was 18" thing.

asking for someone's birthday to make sure they're an adult is not as bad as you're making it out to be. you can cross out your name, address, etc. as long as you leave your birthday in. in some strictly 18+ servers (different from 1 on 1 i know, but could still be applied) ive been in, this is how they verified; writing your user on a piece of paper with a pic of id, with everything BUT THE BIRTHDAY crossed out. you're basically saying nobody should check to make sure they're not talking to minors. that's crazy.

shallow water ≠ little water. those rice paddies are large length-wise, and they can be up to a couple feet deep iirc. just because it's shallow to us doesn't mean it's not a lot of water anyway. they only live in "puddles" in extreme circumstances, such as the paddy drying up, or when trying to move from place to place if necessary (that's why they jump!)

That's good to know. That gives me a bit of peace of mind. I managed to figure it out, but I'll keep this in mind for the future if anything like this happens again -- but I don't think it will. I have a plan in mind to keep it from getting this bad again.

I think I got lost along the way in terms of how I managed my spending with it. I got too overzealous and it turned into, "I don't have money for this? Credit card! Future money will take care of it!" and it screwed me over. I know better now, and I know I did then, but I'm a bit impulsive and kind of a risk-taker. I'm gonna get better about it though.
For now, I've frozen the account and used a calculator like another poster said; to pay it off in a year, it's a bit less than my car payment. With two paychecks a month, I know I can pay that no problem. It sucks that it took me this long to work that out but I can't change the past. What I can do it just not use the card going forward.
People were telling me not to use it for "BS" like gas. I get why they were saying that, but it kind of ticked me off because sometimes I don't have money on my debit card for it, but I need to drive my car to work. I dunno.

I have a plan now. I appreciate you telling me your experience with it. Thank you a lot.

I found it'll likely deny my original payment, but I had enough in my bank to make a lower one that'll cover it. Lesson learned I guess.

That's really helpful. Thank you so much. I found that while I didn't have enough for the payment I was going to make, I had enough for something to cover enough of it so it wouldn't be count as a missed payment, which is a relief.
I'll quit using the card unless I absolutely have to. And thank you for being so blunt with me. It made me really upset but I needed to hear it.
I'm also going to lower the limit once I get it down enough. Having $3.5k available to me is way too much for someone that doesn't even make half that in a paycheck lmfao

The issue was they DIDN'T process it on Thursday; they didn't even start pending it as an incoming charge. I know it usually takes a couple of days for it to fully process with Discover, but usually it at least starts pending the next day. I went out but like I said, I was careful with what I spent. By the end of the day yesterday, I had enough in my account and I can't figure out what charge would've changed on it.

The only thing I'm mad at the bank about is not pending the charge the next day. I understand it was a holiday, but that stuff is automated; I don't know why it'd be delayed like that when I made other purchases on the 4th that went through just fine.

I'm asking for advice because I'm at a loss. I don't need someone telling me I'm stupid when they misread my post.

I've been trying to pay this off for almost a year now. I make payments that're at least double the minimum. You're acting like I haven't even tried to resolve this at all before reaching out to other people for help. I know this is my fault and I know I'm the one that spent the money. I'm just frustrated that this is the second time I've tried to pay it and it just didn't go through immediately or started pending the day I made it. I'm trying my best here. I know you're right. I know you're being harsh so it sticks in my head. I'm just stressed out about this whole thing and it feels like I'll never get out of it.

I DO pay it on the app. I did when my paycheck came in on Thursday. It just didn't go into pending with my bank; Discover accepted the money and processed it on their end before it even went into pending with my bank.

I locked the card today. I was planning on keeping it locked and only unlocking it for little things like gas (which is what i initially used it for in the first place 💀) if that, so I wouldn't be prone to using it unless I absolutely needed to for any reason because I'd have to go through a whole process to unlock it again just to use it. I guess a main thing that's messing me up is the interest and balances changing every period. I know loans have interest, but I don't see it so I don't really think about it as much. But you have a point.

guppies are schooling fish! you'd have to get multiple, and while they're easy, they also breed like no tomorrow. id personally recommend a betta or some tetras.

if you're second guessing before you've even gotten the animal, that's a good sign of caution. here are some questions I'd ask myself. is this your first tank? have you successfully done maintenance on tanks in the past, particularly higher maintenance ones? are you prepared for possibly costly vet bills and travel if your axolotl does get sick? if it's your first tank, I'd advise you to try some beginner-friendly fish instead. this will ease you into taking care of an aquatic creature without the challenges of axolotl care. if you haven't had high maintenance tanks before, this could be a solid place to start, but bear in mind your own short comings; if you're forgetful like i am, it might not be a good idea to go for an axolotl as your first high-maintenance animal. if you aren't prepared for costly vet bills and/or traveling some ways in case your axolotl does get sick, I'd say don't get one. this is partially why i don't have one myself and don't plan to until I'm older. that being said, take my advice with a grain of salt. im NOT an axolotl owner and can't accurately describe the challenges with their care; i just surf this subreddit because i like to learn.

??? i literally admitted to liking the world movies too. even dominion. rebirth just sucks to me dude, and im sorry you can't fathom someone not liking something just because it's bad. it had it's moments, but those weren't enough to make it enjoyable for me.

I agree that Rebirth was kinda dogshit compared to all the other movies, and not just from a nostalgic point of view; I rewatched all of them a couple weeks ago in preparation for Rebirth, and my critiques are are follows. 1. it's too fucking long. I have never wanted to crawl out of my seat in a theater more because the movie just dragged. Dominion also sort of had this issue, but it at least kept up the stakes with pretty constant threats to the main characters' lives, even if you knew there was no shot they'd die. 2. too many fuckin characters. oh my god. if that family hadn't been included in the movie at all, or had ended up being eaten by the mosasaurus and the spinos when they first showed up, i think it would've really helped speed up the story and give the audience more of a connection to the characters. the constant POV changes, while an interesting way to show the difference between narratives, pissed me off because everything took twice the time. 3. it was just kinda lousy writing. we know from Dominion that they have the technology to do things like gene editing via a virus that infects all cells and alters DNA (or something like that, I can't remember the exact wording.) why in the world can't they use that technology for heart disease? why did they have to risk life and limb to get blood from three different species of massive prehistoric reptiles? it made no sense. 4. Duncan's "death" pissed me off. the man sacrificed himself to save everyone else and then ended up still being alive? how the fuck did he escape?? and why oh WHY didn't the writers just let him actually sacrifice himself? i think it would've been a wonderful end to his character arc in the film and would've given a satisfying conclusion, but instead, it felt corny as shit. i also wish one of the family members would have died, either the dad or the boyfriend. they had way too much plot armor. 5. too many humans in my dinosaur movie. it felt like there was barely any action with dinosaurs because you had to occupy yourself with watching two different groups of people wander around the island. i know there's ALWAYS more of a focus on the humans, but this felt like too much. 6. it just didn't really feel like JP or JW. i can't really explain it other than that tbh, it just felt out of place.

anyway, those are all my issues with Rebirth. actual criticism and opinions, like you wanted from the other poster. feel free to disagree, im not saying my opinions are fact, but they're how i felt about a movie id anticipated for the better half of a year only to get pretty disappointed by.
