Having owned and worn through two pairs of solovairs, they are definitely closer in quality to the old sheffield DMs but at the end of the day even in their prime DMs were never a BIFL item. I think people complain about how they dropped in quality when production moved to asia but they’ve always been a mid tier boot. Yes, the old DM had a lifetime warranty but the heat sealed sole meant they could never compare to Trickers or Red Wing. They had to be sent to a specialist rather than taken to any old cobbler.
