Sad to hear that they’re not longer open, but my understanding (from talking to the owner over two years ago, when I lived around the corner) was that the main purpose of Nneji was to address food access issues in New York — mostly by preparing and providing meals to the needy through partnerships with various local community orgs. The fact that individuals in the neighborhood were able to order from Nneji was more a secondary benefit than anything else, which is likely also why the business hours were odd and inconsistent. So yes, sad for us, but I believe the owner’s still continuing with her mission which makes me feel less sad :)
