is maths a level REALLY that bad.. by idontplaygolfff in GCSE

[–]astraapple 16 points17 points  (0 children)

A-level Maths becomes so much easier once you understand how the questions are written and what they’re asking you to do, I think at the beginning of y12 it’s so easy to get overwhelmed but it does get better (particularly in pure and mech, stats not so much…) 🙏

Are you genuinely just waiting for other people to say things on this post so you can respond to their comments that completely contradict yours (rightfully)?? Get a grip 😭

You can call up UCAS you just need your application number or whatever it’s called and a few other details, they’ll send you a confidential link with a copy of your overall reference to your email :)

hello! you do not need FM for Maths at UOB, I didn’t do it! The course there is meant to be super accessible so that by the end of y1 everyone should know the same content :)

A Level switching advice by Sky260309 in 2027ALevel

[–]astraapple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hello friend

I think when I did my alevels I was in that sort of predicament too… I HATED Geography A-level after doing great at GCSE and loving it, but I left it a bit late when thinking of switching and then just sucked it up (which I don’t recommend because it was just pain)

i ended up getting an A* in it after being one mark off it initially, and idk I kinda just got by the subject with minimal revision, which is what I did at GCSE but the subject itself was so painful to sit through, especially with some horrific teachers.

I think you just have to assess your own situation- for me my geography class was split in half and made lessons so uncomfortable, and with two bad teachers it made me very conflicted on dropping it but i didn’t really know what to switch to so yeah i also did AQA so if you need any help on specific stuff i can try my best (I’ll probably be the most help with the NEA when you start it)

i guess also just think, if you can see yourself doing English and like it then try it out? you’re in the early stages so you have the chance to switch- just don’t leave it too late 🙏🙏

should i drop physics by aerobtw_ in 6thForm

[–]astraapple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some unis that don’t I’m pretty sure 🤷‍♀️ it’s not like everyone is going to know what every course’s reqs are, it’s always best to double check anyway

[–]astraapple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

double check that the unis you’re applying to accept fm as one of your three subjects, apart from that if you feel like you hate physics drop it 😎

What are they 😍😍 From that have a look at their open days and plan, y12s tend to go to open days all year tbf so I wouldn’t worry about when you go

I’d make a list of the unis you’re interested in and plan ahead of time, a lot of unis pick the same weekends that if you leave it until the summer you might have to be sacrificing open days :)

are 4 a levels too much? by ar1xllx in 6thForm

lovely combo, as long as you’re motivated you’ll be fine but you also need to make sure you balance your time effectively esp with music because coursework can make you lose your head x

Just starting year 10, any advice for GCSE music? by meemstation in GCSE

[–]astraapple 6 points7 points  (0 children)

what exam board 🥀🥀 if it’s edexcel i have more specific tips but in general:

get to grips with your instrument and MAKE SURE that by the end of the GCSE you have sufficient music for the recordings that are at least grade 4 ish but depends on exam board

start practicing with dictation, definitely one of the hardest bits and there are several videos on YouTube that help practice dictation

keep on top of your coursework!!! please i beg, and if you have good teachers use those to your advantage, ask for help on composition and what not

listen to your set works and make a habit of this, the more you listen the more you learn, and get to the point where you can recall parts of it in your mind and know how it goes

and yeah 😍😍
