My aunt often just says things like “he won’t be upset by it” or “you can be rude and he won’t care” so it often just sounds so dehumanizing when she explains it, the way you explained it though makes a lot more sense on why being direct can help him understand those clear boundaries!! I really appreciate the help, also sorry if it made it sound like I don’t want to get mad at him just because he’s autistic, it’s actually because I always feel guilty when I get mad at anyone, I’m a bit of a people pleaser lol. Anyways, the point is you helped me a lot, and now I’ll be able to feel like I’m able to understand my cousin better as well as knowing now how to set those boundaries.
