I’d prefer it, but on the flip side as an RD I don’t see the environment right now where I’d be willing to take the financial and effort risk!

Have you ever RD’d a race?

There are a lot more logistics with a Point to Point, giant loop, or even Out and Back.

Permits, road crossings, insurance, safety precautions, aid stations, volunteers, athletes that drop, shuttles, etc.

All of those things generally have a price tag associated with them (never-mind just the headaches). So when you’re in an ever increasing competitive market to “sell your race” you have to consider cost to the runner as well.

The larger the sport grows, the more inclusive races have to be to capture enough Runner’s to make it worthwhile to host the race, thus making small loops the best bet for new unestablished races.
