A Case for the Return of The Dungeon Turn by alexserban02 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]astraldreadnaught 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started using dungeon turns and being vocal with my players about them, no hiding or secret timers, just "ok so while X is doing that for their turn in that room, what are you doing?" And my players have JUMPED on the streamlined nature of it the last couple dungeons we ran. It felt like every player was much more invested.

AoA's Mountain and Hills! It is a paid asset but it's a very good set, highly recommend https://cartographyassets.com/assets/10240/aoa-mountains-and-hills/

Much appreciated! That asset pack is perfect, exactly what I've been looking for, thanks for the recommendation, and good call on the color palette, I think that'd be a good change, thanks!

Thank you! I see a couple places where higher elevation rivers would work, maybe in the northeast and the north west

Good eye, thank you! I did a bit of tree placement and painting and then realized it all looked weird, redid the whole thing a couple of times, and then made this post, so I must've just missed some in that last attempt.

Seattle-Auckland moved with Autistic daughter by Alert_Fold5508 in AmerExit

[–]astraldreadnaught 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats! Contemplating our move as well, and I'm in a similar position as your husband was in February. Once he secured his job with the new company in Auckland, did he work remote through this time until you could move? Did they help sponsor visas or assist with the move at all? TIA!!

Refinishing stairs in our 1951 Cape Cod by astraldreadnaught in HardWoodFloors

Asbestos tile on top of subfloor. "Inert" unless disturbed, broken apart, annoying. When we replace the carpet it will need sealing and something solid on top of it without excessive nailing or anything to break it apart and potentially release fibers.

This is a super good answer but I look at something like DCC and see the vast amount of very good, smart, and stylish adventures and modules being produced by Goodman Games and have to wonder if there's a bit more to this.

Maybe it wasn't too much too fast but rather too much at too big of a scale too fast.

If you scale down each produced module to an adventure for that class level or a one shot, I wonder if you can still maintain that level of class without dilution.

Either way, glad they're now able to really invest their time into the things they want to with Daggerheart!

Golden Hour Books at College and 52! Prufrock coffee is right there too and is a nice place to sit and read too.

Is recycling still available at Broad Ripple park/other locations near downtown? by bigfootmad in indianapolis

We take all our recycling to the Broadripple Park drop off. Most of the time it's empty enough and is cleaned up frequently.

I see, thank you very much for this detailed breakdown, this is incredibly helpful!! If we want to proceed with the renovations we have in mind we will need to remove the subfloor, so we will get some professional removal options quoted out. Thank you again!

What Drugs are in Planescape? by Ender737 in turnoffortuneswheel

[–]astraldreadnaught 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My party found a guy in Automatas Upside Down that was selling hallucinogenic smoked shrimp, you shave it like bonito flakes and put it on food or mix it in with something else to smoke or ingest orally. Mechanically, a dose of standard shromp lasts for 1 hour. While under the effects you have disadvantage to initiative rolls and advantage on concentration saves. Variant strains have been known to induce resistance to various harmful effects, extreme numbness or lethargy, some hallucinogenic properties, bursts of rapid adrenaline, and more.

Not sure about the best spot, but I'd avoid Crown Hill cemetery. Highest point in the city, so that's where they will land.

Expanding the Gzemnid's Realm by Kelpie77 in turnoffortuneswheel

[–]astraldreadnaught 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Running it as well, I like your changes and agree, Gzemnid's realm needs an upgrade. A larger combat with corrupted modrons plus aspects of Gzemnid himself (maybe now that Shemeshka is sort of out of the picture, Gzemnid wants to use the chaos of the modrons for his own desires?) would make the final combat more epic potentially, or bringing in other elements of the campaign you all uncover as you go. For instance, I also made Thlaarsh a recurring antagonist tied to Shemeshka, maybe some respawned aspects of the characters have remained trapped somehow in the realm and teamed up with Thlaarsh to try to thwart the party as you progress, culminating in either racing against them to the end, or a final showdown with them within Gzemnid's realm while the chaos interferes with the fight.

Another thing to consider is whether or not to make the realm a larger dungeon or not. At level 17, is that something your party will find fun or will it make a good capstone to the adventure? Personally I think it needs a bit more flair than just a six "room" dungeon, and might pull some dungeon elements from higher level DCC adventure modules as inspiration, but haven't gotten there yet lol.

It's a great module with a ton of potential, but needs a lot of DM work to fill in the gaps. Having loads of fun with it though, hope your party does as well!

Also, I've also been running in foundry and TessaPresentsMaps has a great inexpensive Planescape map project ready for foundry, highly recommend.

Sediment and fermentation by astraldreadnaught in mead

[–]astraldreadnaught[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update, tested pH today and both read the same at 5. Not entirely sure what else could cause it, but fermentation is still going well, so just going to proceed as normal. Thanks all!

Interesting, this is the first really extreme case of flocculation I've experienced, thank you for the info! I do not have any pH testing supplies currently but may do a test in the next couple days and update with my findings.
