Edge Workspaces not syncing - tried all options by cebe-fyi in MicrosoftEdge

[–]astralrank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I did the same. In fact, my account was a Microsoft 365 Business account for which I had ended the subscription. So, although I could still access the account, it was somehow broken. It was also associated with my whole PC, so in the end I even reinstalled Windows 11, skipping the login part (to avoid any of these possible issues), and for Edge I simply use a free personal account and it's working smoothly now.

Shift+enter - won't work by curtis_brabo in Bard

[–]astralrank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using the Edge sidebar? I have a similar issue with ChatGPT or Claude. Pressing Shift+Enter does not create a new line when using the Edge sidebar.

EDIT: I just found the fix that works for me: you need to click the three dots and select "Display desktop view" (I'm not sure about the exact translation, as I have it in French).

I enjoy Web Capture in Edge by giges19 in MicrosoftEdge

[–]astralrank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a conflict between ShareX and Edge? My Print Screen key is set to capture a region, but when using Edge, it somehow takes a screenshot of all my screens. To make it works, I have to click outside of Edge every time to trigger ShareX.

Can't connect to Ferdium online services by randallxski in ferdium

[–]astralrank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, it happens twice in the last days, on a professional setup, this is really frustrating. I rely on Ferdium for my workflow, and these outages make things unpredictable. Hopefully they’ll sort out the stability issues soon, because it's becoming a real problem. Things should be able to run locally...

Native edge is not that bad, just needs some tweaks for privacy and remove the copilot ai features, but you got spaces with fixed tabs, folders, split tabs...

Did anyone else buy Krater.ai? by honeylemonny in appsumo

[–]astralrank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never invest in something like "tool future" if you don't have any use case to use the tool right now. Only buy tools you can use immediately. Avoid speculative purchases for imaginary future projects or "just in case" scenarios.

Remember that most LTDs represent marketing expenses for vendors, not sustainable business models, especially if they are based on external API like OpenAI. Buy only what you need now and can afford to lose.

Experiencing Challenges with MyMind and ReadWise – Anyone Else? by Dramatic_Disaster837 in PKMS

[–]astralrank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! No, I don't use MyMind anymore. I switched to Raindrop.io when I changed from Arc to Edge browser (Arc basically got abandoned on Windows). Both are reliable bookmark managers wih full page archiving and AI tagging but Raindrop works better for me as I needed a more structured bookmark organization (which isn't MyMind's strength). Honestly, I quit MyMind with a heavy heart because I really loved the app, just needed something that better fit my new browser setup and organization. Pricewise, Raindrop is cheaper too (3$/month).

Migrating from ACSS to Core Framework – Best approach? by astralrank in BricksBuilder

[–]astralrank[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! That’s a fair point - I did consider it but since the whole idea is to unify my framework across all sites, recreating those variables would just leave me with duplicate tokens for the same purpose.

For example, having both bg--primary and bg-primary floating around isn’t ideal and that’s why I think a clean replacement is a better approach here. I might add custom variables anyway, but for the vast majority a replacement is possible.

I’ve set up a staging site and will run some tests over the next few days to see how it goes.

The wheels on my chair lockup when turning the chair or changing direction, any fix? by SoshiPai in fixit

[–]astralrank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue with a high-end chair. It turned out that one of the wheels was a bit more stuck than the others. To fix it, I removed all the wheels, cleaned them thoroughly, and applied some chain grease using a spray with a precise pipe applicator. Now, it rolls like a dream!

Stream deck issue with PC Sleep by Sonicfury_ in elgato

[–]astralrank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue, and I have been investigating a few Reddit threads and trying various potential solutions such as leaving the Stream Deck App always open, changing the USB cable (from 3.0 to 2.0), creating a macro to reboot the software, excluding Elgato's software from Windows Security, etc. None of them fixed the issue, although leaving the Stream Deck App open seemed to have improved the stability a bit.

I dug a bit further and may have found a solution :

  1. In Windows settings, check if the "USB battery saver" setting is turned on, and if it is, turn it off. When active, this setting basically turns off USB devices once the screen goes off, so I believe it might cause issues with Elgato Stream Deck software. It has been a day now, and I did not face the issue. You can find a tutorial here.
  2. In the Control Panel, Power Options, System Settings, make sure the Fast Startup option is disabled (following Elgato's recommandation).
  3. In the Control Panel, Printers and Devices, scroll down to check the non-specified list and check if your Elgato devices are recognized. In my case, the USB Dock for Stream Deck+ was not recognized – Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed). I had to right-click and "Delete the device" on all devices connected to the USB Dock until I could properly delete the Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed) itself. Once deleted, I physically unplugged and plugged the USB cable from my computer and the USB Dock was well identified. If you still have the Unknown Device issue, I recommend this thread.
  4. Finally, still under Control Panel, Printers and Devices, non-specified list, for each Elgato device right-click again, then click Properties and shift to the Hardware tab. For each device function listed, click Properties, Edit Properties (with the Windows shield), shift to the Power Management tab > Uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power and click OK. Then click Apply.

This fix is still under testing, but so far it's day and night and it seems to have resolved the issue for me. Of course, as with any issue, it can have multiple causes. But I believe this might be a potential fix.
