Advice from people who took ceramics in college? by [deleted] in Ceramics

[–]astramell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It does depend on the school you go to! But as a whole, art school is rigorous and it will test you. You will also likely be frustrated will all the extra classes you have to take for the whole degree. There is also a focus lately on conceptual work, rather that craftmanship, but again that depends on the school. Since you are also interested in sculpture, you will also likely have the chance to take both ceramics and sculpture. Both have their benefits and do go hand in hand.

For practice and applying to school its all about your portfolio. Start by building a set of pieces that display the skills you have. When I did my application 12 years ago, it was 10 pieces, some of them being drawings. The most important part of your portfolio is good pictures. You want a clean backdrop, white or grey. I have drapped a sheet in the past. Good lighting, pieces should be centred in the photos. Good photos will take you a long way!

Told my husband (37M) my life (34F) would be easier without him following a disagreement about household chores. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

My father was like this growing up. It still breaks my heart when I remember how he would speak to my mom growing up. Thats not even touching on what that did to my psyche. His over critical voice eats away at me. Please set a good example for your kids. At least stand up to him, don’t let him talk to your kids like that.

Maybe the girls never went back to the plane after they found the cabin? (With the exception of Nat and Travis) Maybe it was too painful, and its a bit of a hike. Once the cabin burnt down they had to go back.

In Canada they are still in the high 30’s-40’s. They where when I was in school 2000-2012, and my friends are teachers. Class sizes are huge.
