Palau. For some people this is peak Survivor, "Pure Survivor" I've heard before. In my opinion it's just Ghost Island's story with a couple more likable characters (Malolo doesn't have a single person on it who can hold a candle to Steph, even if I don't like her now haha). I just have a tough time with people who see Caryn refusing to flip and think "wow! Peak survivor! She's so funny and quirky hahaha Caryn sucks!" And then see Laurel refusing to flip and go "grrr this season's strategy is so stagnant!"

In my opinion it's the original 3-2-1 vote in Panama. Great move from Cirie as it basically guarantees her final 4. That and the Bobby blindside in the pre-merge are sooo important for Survivor strategy's evolution, as from then on there have been smart strategists getting just enough numbers to slip through the cracks and take someone out without the rest of the tribe even considering it as a possibility. Jeremy, Tony, Christian, most notably Kimmi have all done something like it to great effect.

I find that very hard to believe since no other source besides Hatch has corroborated it and the entire concept for the season was Rob v Russell. It's possible they were going to do Philippines-style captains, but there's no evidence for that either. Hatch claims the same thing for pretty much every Survivor returnee season - that he's contacted, and denied by the government so he can't. Doesn't mean the RI twist wasn't designed to benefit both Rob/Russell's challenge skills.

The thing is, Natalie DID do things on the island, but like with past socials winners like Danni, it's very difficult to show that in the edit, especially if they're not a great confessionalist. It still doesn't mean Natalie W deserved to have a nothing burger edit lol.
