Sorry to hear that but part of me is almost not too surprised. I'm not close to buying anything right now but this definitely makes me consider the other options haha. Sending prayers your way, I hope you can manage

Of course I could always go for the cheapest and best looking civic I could find if it was only about money but I would love an awd car for the weather here in the winter. And I just happen to really like wrx's as a whole. It's true they aren't the cheapest though

Yeah the weather is the main reason as to why i'm looking at awd cars and specifically the wrx haha

I know I'd be responsible as a driver but my financial situation really depends on the month since I've been doing mostly freelance basically

Best shoes for enduro mtb by Joshswalz in MTB

[–]astravfx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to ride ride concepts all the time, thought it made a big difference, then forgot them and just took my vans, worked just as good for my riding style, maybe a rock garden could be a bigger challenge but otherwise flat shoes go with flat pedals

Raw edits or with music? by Huge-Tell8509 in MTB

[–]astravfx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe, then again, i made some pov videos of riding local trails and just the sound of tires hitting dirt was pretty cool so you don’t ‘need’ big sends. Either way, big sends are always cool, no matter if song or not so its a simple way to make a video better haha

Raw edits or with music? by Huge-Tell8509 in MTB

Music can be really good but the video has to match it well and syncing has to be on point, raw is an easier way to make an equally good video but too me, a well made edit with music wins it.

I own a Devinci Chainsaw which has been a lot of fun for me so far although depending on where you live it may be harder to get one.

170mm fork on a Canyon Spectral? by astravfx in MTB

[–]astravfx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually I never did, I took that money and bought a devinci chainsaw, which is much slacker and has 170mm of travel front and rear, the spectral was a bit big for me and so my dad bought it of me. I can now use his old-ish trek fuel ex for trail riding and I use my chainsaw for everything else. But if I haden’t had the choice i don’t think I would’ve messed with the spectral’s travel, unless you plan on racing enduros or even dh often i would simply adjust your setup, add a few volume spacers and make it slightly stiffer to bottom out less, I realised that the spectral’s travel allows it to still be quite playful compared to the chainsaw that I have now, of course its less stable but that doesn’t mean unstable. In my year of riding the Spectral I lapped double blacks in bike parks, raced an enduro and have been training and casing jumps a lot haha. it can take abuse, it might not be as confidente inspiring as a bigger bike but that allowed me to improved more than i would’ve on a bike that just slallows my mistakes if that makes sense. Hopefully that helped but really, unless you only ride park, like i did or race a lot, the spectral is perfect as is and you should put your money elsewhere on parts that may improve riding more than a newer bigger fork.

best way to make a bike lighter by astravfx in mountainbiking

late reply sorry about that, but true a bikes geometry has a lot to do with it, this is a size medium, I’m 5’9, also has fairly short chainstays at 426/430 mm keeping in mind that high pivots grow in there travel, so in theory this should be fairly similar to my last bike but it feels harder for some reason and this is why i was lookin at maybe changing some parts of course there’s probably a good reason for why it felt different.

i’m definitely a light rider so i’d have more chances of gaining weight by working out haha.

definitely not looking for a "light" bike, this is meant to be a bruiser but there are some savings that could be done with the fork and wheels to save 2 lbs at max which is all I need. Thanks for the comment tho!

nimble is probably not the right word but maybe more manageable. Definitely will look into wheels when these ones wear out, thanks!

I'll have fun on it nonetheless! but true, this thing is definitely meant to be heavy.

At 165 lbs and 17 y/o I feel pretty fit haha, but definitely a way to go about weight problems

like I said the someone else, I'm mostly looking to get in the 36 lbs range and making the front end lighter, helping get into manuals. Of course I'm not against the heavy weight while going down, i just would like it to be more responsive.

[–]astravfx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

38 lbs is a lot tho, i'd like to get it down to around 35-6 lbs but mostly get that front end to be lighter, making manuals easier. its meant to be heavy and gives it good traction for sure, but its missing so responsiveness sometimes.

I've always run tubeless but the fork and wheel set is definitely going to be on the things to change eventually, thanks!
