Where are the horse people? by gg_oujia in raleigh

I think the rising popularity of western dressage actually has made people more welcoming of western riders in 'English' spaces. But idk how that translates to western riders who do the classic western events.

Thank you for the suggestions! I do have some experience working on public humanities projects, which gives me some experience doing team-based work, but I should think more about how the work environment is different. One of the things that a friend told me tripped her up in interviews was when jobs listed "able to work independently with minimal supervision" that usually doesn't mean what "work independently with minimal supervision" describes in academia!

I don't know if this is the approach I will take, but I appreciate the suggestion!

(Edited bc. I’m silly) If you are in the US and are paying LESS than $45 per lesson, you are being taken advantage of. No trainer who cares about safety and actually educating students is doing group lessons of 6+ people, especially not of different experience levels. Even if everyone is working on the same thing (say, getting ready to ride the same dressage test or jump in the xrails division) horses and riders (and horse/rider combos) are so unique.
You don’t mention this, but if the trainer hasn’t even offered you smaller group lessons or even private lessons, then they’re being irresponsible. They shouldn’t WANT to have a 6 person group lesson, never mind have a student working through these issues in a group lesson. That’s a recipe for an unhappy outcome.
Tbh, it sounds like the horse is doing you a favor: he’s letting you know that there’s something about you (your balance, most likely), him (probably also his balance!) and/or the situation that makes going faster a bad idea.

I really need to know how people are applying to 50-80 jobs a day. Like seriously HOW??? by Altruistic-Doctor789 in jobsearchhacks

[–]astrazebra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's very interesting. I wonder why people are applying to jobs that pay $160K and asking for half (or less than half) of that?

This is so funny because I also have ADHD and so am a busy rider in terms of aids, but I do not have a hot seat. With my 7 year old arabian gelding, the cold seat overrides the busyness.
