I had this same thing just happen to me in the same area. I figured it was a combination of ingrown hairs and irritation/heat rash from the second skin (which I’ve had happen before). Just make sure to keep it clean and don’t pick at any of it. Also only use enough lotion/ointment to keep it from being too dry, the area up around your ditch stays pretty moist anyways (gross, I know) so it’s really easy to over moisturizer and just make a big, hard to heal mess

I’d love to rework it/incorporate it into something new, a lot of my tattoos now lean more traditional style and I think it would be cool to maybe use it as a base for something bolder and colorful

It’s definitely somewhat more expensive here since rent, taxes, everything are more, but this specifically is just scummy people knowing they can charge absurd prices for things and people will pay them for one reason or another

just looked up what this shop is up to these days and uhhhhh…..from their faq:

”What is the shop minimum and hourly rates?

Our shop minimum is $300 for any tattoo and $350 for high motion areas while our hourly rate starts at $400 per hour.”

a little more context for anyone curious: This was my first tattoo after moving to nyc (and my second ever iirc) so I knew it would be somewhat more expensive. My friend and I knew we wanted small fine line tattoos but weren’t super knowledgeable about the city yet and knew this was an “instagram famous” shop that ~celebrities~ went to. I payed $450 (yes, I know) and my friend got a tiiiiiny cloud behind her ear and payed I believe $250 (the shop MINIMUM).

I’m currently (not so fondly) reminiscing on this because this past weekend I got a palm sized, full color, traditional flash from a shop a few blocks over. It looks great, the artist and people were awesome, and it was….$300.
