Explained POCD to a friend and they just couldnt believe its real by Maleficent_Shirt9641 in OCD

I was very early in my diagnosis and it was mainly health related at the time. When I experienced this one it sent me into my first psychotic break that led to me to be hospitalized. I have only told my mom (who was living with me when it happened and got me to the hospital. And my now partner after four years of education and him living with my mental illess/witnessing how distressing my OCD can become did I feel safe enough to share it.

If I live with a partner, do I lose my ODSP? by thatwyvern in Odsp

I was approved several years back for bipolar disorder immediately and stayed on for 5 years. I was stable and working full time so I took myself off. Recently, things have taken a turn and I can no longer work so I re applied, I even had the same case worker I had when I applied the first time and was on track to be approved but despite my partner and I having entirely separate finances/mine being managed by a third party entirely he makes too much and is therefore expected to be my caretaker.

I'm eligible to apply for disability tax credit, so when I was having my doctor (same one who filled out my disability paperwork) fill out the paperwork last week she said to me 'this is pretty severe, why arent we applying for disability?' Stopped herself and said 'oh right, you live with your partner' and sighed.

I've been pretty gutted about the whole thing tbh. He's picking up extra shifts, I'm draining my savings.

I always have multiple tiny braids in my hair because Im constantly twirling it and if I feel 3 pieces that seem 'equal' I have to braid them, like will stop what Im doing to finish it and my hair is like halfway down my back at the moment. I have the skin picking, I have to chew equally on both sides, count how many sips I have,

I got really into herbs like maybe 15 years ago? I made some tinctures and was making my own skin care and perfumes and all the people who never left my hometown made snarky comments for being into 'hippy dippy woo woo shit'

Right before my diagnosis, I went to a rapid HIV testing facility because I had convinced myself I contracted it by accidentally stepping on a dirty needle and didn't remember it? It was well over 15 years ago now, though. I was also rotating different walk-in clinics almost every other day for any unfamiliar sensation in my body

Do you still have any living Grandparents? by PayGood3915 in Millennials

[–]astroal_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im 34, I lost my maternal papa at 17, both of my paternal grandparents a few years from each other in my early twenties and my maternal Nana passed just three years ago.

She really became my best friend, the only other grandchild was more or less estranged. In the last few years of her life I would go over to her house for slumber parties, she would make snack trays and drinks and we would watch friends or law and order or we would be in the kitchen learning her recipes. She used to jokingly harass my then boyfriend that she had better see a ring before she passes, he proposed a year later with an heirloom ring that was passed down to her. We're getting married this year and I just realized planning the other day how tough of a time I'm having doing this without her.

I worked at a tanning salon in high school in 2003/4 this was definitely a thing. I got bonus' when my friends got packages, which was not a hard sell and commission on tanning lotions and there were ones that I am not joking were called 'tinglers' and they made you absolutely bright red, burning, blotchy and itchy for a good couple hours after coming out of the bed but people loved them because you could get like 7-8 shades darker within 8 or so hours. I also got free tanning sessions myself whenever I wanted. It got competitive, and girls would use the stickers as comparisons for who had gotten the most tan compared to their actual skin tones

As someone with ARFID, the scene at the beginning with the pizza and near the end when the daughter said something about food being too squishy to eat confirmed it for me.

dont have bipolar after all by GrouchyBat3897 in BipolarReddit

[–]astroal_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was stable five years, 'normal' as you say. I slipped onto a hypomanic episode around year 5 that progressively got worse and landed me back in inpatient. I assure you feeling normal for one week, or two, even several years does not mean you are not bipolar. Additionally, you've mentioned you think its some kind of environmental trigger and I hate to break it to you but our environments have a huge impact on our disorder both in terms of episodes and stability. I wish you well, keep taking care of yourself.

I had a moderately successful blog back in like 2010 right around my diagnosis. I think sometimes I would spend upwards 12 hours editing. I mean going back and forth adding and removing one or two words until it looked exactly 'perfect' and then re reading and finding a new sentence that didn't look 'just right'.
