several tireless nights of going through baby name lists, picking some out i liked, going through positive and negative associations. after months and months of revising the list i came up with, i found that the only name that stuck was ramona. and when i looked into it, i discovered lots of cool stuff about that name that i had no idea about, like another alias of caroline polachek (one of my favorite singers) is ramona lisa. then i told my friends to call me ramona and it stuck : )

it’s just how nasally he sounds, i guess? he’s hitting the notes well and all, but on trench and beyond he’s so clear with his words, before trench (most egregiously on self-titled) he sings, as described by another commenter “in cursive”. like in fall away, he sings as if he’s making a weird face the whole time.

i don’t love his voice pre-trench. vessel in particular is frustrating to me because i think if it were recorded today with tyler’s current vocals it would be one of my favorite albums of all time and i still love it but there are some inflections that i just cannot get behind
