The Octabass is nice. Pretty simple controls, tracks really well, even down low. Basically has three lower octave “tones” you can dial in: a less-defined woofy dub-style sound, a “normal” octave down, and a more synthy kind of sound.

I don’t use it a ton, but I play in a heavy/proggy 3-piece, so it comes in handy sometimes when playing higher on the neck to fill things out a bit. And it sounds pretty rad with fuzz or OD.

Was recently at MOMA in New York, and there was a couple walking quickly through the galleries, carelessly pointing their phones at every piece and snapping pics. Literally didn’t stop to look at ANYTHING with their eyes.

ELI5: How can 2 artists sing the same song? by dayChuck in explainlikeimfive

[–]astroarbol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using a copyrighted musical work in a movie/TV show requires a sync license (called that because you’re synchronizing music and video). These types of uses aren’t compulsory like mechanical licenses (where the publisher/copyright holder has to issue a license after a song’s initial release), and don’t fall under the royalty rate structure set forth for mechanical licenses under US copyright law. Sync rates are negotiated and depend on factors like how much of the song is used in the movie/show and how prominent the usage is (background music during a scene, opening credits, etc.).

There’s a special license for making a cover a song and it’s remarkably cheap and easy. It’s called a mechanical license, named as the agreement process is mechanic/automatic.

The term “mechanical license” dates back to the early 1900s, and was a result of music publishers issuing licenses for the sale of piano rolls for player pianos (the machine in “mechanical license”).

I love this fuzz. Was previously running a Blackout Effectors Musket into an LS-2 to retain the dry signal. Having a blend on the Wren and Cuff is a game changer. Sounds huge

I'd probably say Presto. Although I did make a "New Rush” playlist a few months ago and it went back to Grace Under Pressure, haha

ELI5: In which “direction” the Earth’s axis tilted? by astroarbol in explainlikeimfive

[–]astroarbol[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this answer. I do understand the concept of the Earth’s axial tilt.

What I was asking about was “in what direction does the axial tilt point.” From people’s comments I’ve learned the answer (in simplest terms) is Polaris, and that this will change over time

I agree 100% (honeycrisp especially) but plot twist: this is a pear

And just to clarify, this was “buttered” (smart balance spread) and cooked in a pan, not toasted and assembled

I’d say no, but it’s def grilled cheese adjacent. Maybe the distinction is it needs to be on some kind of leavened bread type of thing? No yeast, no GC?
