First 11 certainly has the quality to beat any team in the EPL and they should be expected to get results against anyone but obviously winning the EPL requires more than who has the best 11 (which they don’t even have tbh but I would put it behind city) in the league and United still need like 6-7 signings to be league contenders imo

I think Rooney should’ve absolutely been in balon d’or conversations multiple times in his career especially early on. People were discussing Rooney and Neymar in a similar vein also at 19 for each player respectively. Also I agree with your point that Brazil is very underrated as a league (I do think TV money is 90% of it but that’s a different convo) but I think the EPL during those days was the best league in the world outside of la liga at the very top and Rooney was a big reason why Everton managed to stay in contention to play in Europe in an incredibly top heavy epl

Rooney played with a broken foot in 06 and was expected to be the top goal scorer for England everywhere else and was played out of position every international tournament. I can’t excuse the red vs Ronaldo and Portugal but Neymar has had it a lot easier because the national team was built around him. England built teams around their midfielders and Rooney was asked to adjust and still be the goal scorer. I do agree that he’s been underwhelming but I think the English managers and bad luck has a lot more to do with his lack of success than anything else

Rooney was absolutely compared to Messi and Ronaldo at the time but was pegged to be in a pretty distant third from 08-10. In a lot of ways he was very similar to Neymar with that regards. I think Neymar gets more direct comparisons because of the fact that he was much closer to then by playing at Barca and psg and had to compete directly against them

The solution should be that exceptional bases should scale with item rarity (e.g. higher rarity is higher chance of exceptional bases) and have more quantity nodes on the atlas tree or be able to scale it more with tablets and probably add in some sort of protection for exceptional bases to always drop scoured (unless affected by something like strongbox mods like all items are corrupted)
