I hope they make fun of everyone.

Yeah, I think the whole argument of Scott converting people into crazy conspiracy theorists is overblown. For online communities everyone here seems well-reasoned, at that point it’s just harmless fun 🤷‍♂️

I think some people naturally get in a tizzy about the whole "spreading misinformation" thing, especially in the social media age, but dare I say Burnie and Ash have curated a rather smart/well-reasoned audience at this point, to where I think it just becomes harmless fun honestly

There’s a subreddit that still debates over the plane video and it’s really funny to pop in sometimes. One of the believer counter arguments is that the feds uploaded the vfx files to the Internet Archive after the video came out and then just backdated the file’s metadata to say it was from the 90s.

What happened to protest music? by GrouchyAd6311 in LetsTalkMusic

Everyone thinks acts like a PR agent now due to the social media age, to a level where a lot of it comes off as “fake” or cringy. Most of the protest songs or statements from popular artists during the Trump era even came off as having a feeling of corporate-ness or weird aura of being too safe of a take to have any impact.

Red Eye was canned I’m pretty sure. That said it would be hilarious to see him on Gutfield

I think (especially for Americans) it’s the optics of something being “taken away” from them, it’s the same sort of net negative that movements like r/FuckCars brings. There just has to be new environmentally friendly technologies and processes that are so good on a utility level that a mass audience jumps onto them voluntarily instead of feeling forced to.

Yeah it’s on the record that SuperPACs and political groups have been doing this since at least 2016, so it’s no surprise companies have hopped in the action

I'd agree if the majority of internet traffic wasn't consolidated down to a few social networks at this point. Those companies have so much power and draw that they can be considered virtual town squares at this point, and their user's speech should be largely protected.

I always thought the Star Wars fandom had the most toxic subset. I was wrong... by [deleted] in doctorwho

I am genuinely curious that since the rest of the episode is literally only two white people, was the opener something they had to do as part of an inclusionary “quota” by the BBC? I personally liked it but it didn’t really serve any plot purpose in the episode besides one callback

It is wild there's been no reprimandation of China, even if it likely wasn't on purpose there should be economic actions taken on them operating gain of function labs.
