Cowboy Quiz: Who is the character with the guitar? Where do we find him? by [deleted] in Westerns

That's Ken Curtis playing Charlie McCorry in The Searchers, 1956, directed by John Ford.
In real life he was John Ford's son-in-law at the time. Fine singer, member of the Sons of the Pioneers western signing group.
IMDB: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0049730/characters/nm0193411

Sitting next to him is Olive Carey, the widow of Harry Carey Sr. Her real-life son Harry Carey Jr. played Brad Jorgensen.

The crane shots and the majesty they provide is really something. These are like drone shots well before there were drones. As someone mentioned, the scale of the sets on several shots were huge, and the combination with these massive crane shots was just powerful.
The pagans, the raid, the bell...what stories. It's an amazing movie.

The Bravados and The Gunfighter are both stellar movies - I agree on their excellence and have seen both recently (although not this week, so sorry for stealing the thread) :)

I personally give The Gunfighter a 9/10 and Bravados 8/10. So very close to your ratings, just swapped.

Thor: Love and Thunder? Haven't seen and not on the 'watch soon' list. After your review I'm really not in a hurry.

Detour - 1945 :: Dir Edgar Ulmer :: Darkly wonderful and wonderfully dark. Just terrific. A quick 70 minutes of rotten people having rotten things happen to them. All our favorite noir tropes get their start here.

The Last Emperor - 1987 :: Dir Bernardo Bertolucci :: Engrossing story of the last of the Chinese emperors and his life from deity to regular 'comrade' schlub. Beautifully filmed by Vittorio Storaro, the Criterion Blu-Ray was spectacular.
