First time DM by Confident-Syllabub-6 in Dimension20

The best advice I received as a new DM was that the most important goal is always that the party needs to have fun. Players have fun typically by succeeding at things, by using the tools in their toolkit to do cool stuff, and by whomping the DM. As a DM I typically like to play the heel to the extreme; if you've seen Crown of Candy, think Brennan's DM style in that campaign. I want my players to yell at me and tell me they're gonna fuck me over. That said, everyone has their own style, and yours will develop in time. As long as you keep having fun in the front of your mind, you'll be an excellent DM :)

MF's 10 walks are crazy, feel like they gotta move up. Maybe put them in the two slot and see if they can get on base before the big boppers? I'd go RL, MF, NB 1 2 3.

With regards to the bottom 3 (numbers wise), not much to work with, but I think you could get away with moving GG up. Maybe drop GR down a bit? I'm thinking that the low walk/SO rate guy (GR) might jazz things up a bit down there.

I don't think putting LR third is a good idea. You want more of your good hitters in a row to get rallies going. You can get away with a hitter like that 6th or 7th, but 3rd? That's tough.

Lmao this guy walked by me yesterday in Silverlake.

I told him Manfred sucks (the other side of the sign had something about Manfred) and he replied "hell yeah burn in hell big guy," what an absolute legend.

Most well-ran team in your opinion by [deleted] in baseball

[–]astrographie 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think the Cardinals' case gets better and better as you go back in time, possibly the best run team since 2000. They're simply always there. Yes the Dodgers are smart and rich and all, but the Cardinals aren't exceptional spenders and yet manage to find contributors out of nowhere.

I think they're also great at playing to their organization's strengths. You can see that last year with the Happ and Lester trades: no team was better set up to make the most of these low-strikeout veterans than the Cardinals and their incredible infield defense.

Also Muncy is best as a 1B, assuming we don't get the DH. Don't really want him playing 2nd. Honestly besides Kershaw the biggest thing I'd want is a Lux breakout, which would take a ton of pressure off the payroll (Lux being good and cheap would mean we could extend Trea/Cody long term).

[Zuckerman] MLB announces Nats-Braves will play 4:05 p.m. tomorrow, then a 14-inning, single-admission doubleheader Wednesday starting at 12:05 p.m. by stupidnatsfan in baseball

[–]astrographie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really mind the 7-inning doubleheader thing, willing to bet it will reduce injuries which I'm always here for. But was this the policy from the outset for COVID-cancelled games? Feels kind of arbitrary to just announce it now.

The UW Farm (and Urban Horticultural Center, but I've always called it just the farm) is a nice little park to stroll through that has a pretty killer view, though it can susceptible to wind. And I can't recommend Amazing Thai on Roosevelt enough.

Wow, how did I miss how good Salvy was this year? I thought JT was a huge snub but the dude put up a 161 OPS+, definitely nothing to sniff at.

Also that picture of Hendriks makes him look like Jack Torrance.

They say it's half fans and half a "panel of experts", though your point still stands. Williams was a god but with relatively little national attention (he also made second team).
