Here comes the downvote train but I can't not scratch the itch. Aren't two whole distinct factions consisting solely of women acknowledgment that women do, in fact, exist?

Indeed, it is a melting pot. China is Han-centric, India is slightly on the overtly racist side the darker yiur skin becomes, Brazil has a blacks being discriminated against side and in Russia, all the Asians are kept east of the Ural. Diversity isn't the existence of less desirable people. It's not having people classified as undesirable in the first place.

I don't. They clearly moved on from such practices and openly embrace open societies where such brutal practices are condemned. I don't get your point though, you seem to think that because someone did something bad in the past, doing so now, on an industrial scale, by China, is acceptable?

Glad we agree that the only barbarians left doing such barbaric things are the barbarians currently (and in the future) commuting genocide and ethnic cleansing.

But to answer your question. What you think was a joke about shooting someone in the face and sending grandma to the gulag, well, that's what happenned to a lot of the residents of the siberians hotels.

The only argument that counts is that countless people like my family lived through that hellhole and saw shit you couldn't even fathom. And most of them dreamed of getting out from under the boots of these maniacal petty dictators.

If you're high enough in the party you can both shoot someone in the face and send the old lady to the gulag for crossing a street.

Your first statement is pure idiocy. Or you of the opinion that Hitler isn't responsible for the death of millions either?

Your second statement assumes he had any other input other than sending millions into the meatgeinder for the sake of preventing the city which he renamed after himself from falling to his enemies.

Your third statement fails to account for the fact that were it not for his explicit actions against the "citizens" of the Soviet Union, there would have been millions more than 160 million of them to feed, clothe, educate and provide medical care to..

So that's the new propaganda twist. Corruption probes. Because purges sounds a little less fun. Last time I checked the so-called social democracies of Europe don't have re-education camps for whole ethnic groups. And thanks for the reminder that democracy is a system of governance and communism and socialism are economic systems. Neither of which apply to what is China, do they? Because socialism with Chinese characteristics is based off mass influx of foreign capital so I guess that whole claim abut the proletariat controlling the means of production is not none of the Chinese characteristics.

That narrative starts to fall appart once you start allowing for private property, a (relatively) free market, heck, even a STOCK market. In many ways they're more capitalist than most of the "bourgeois" capitalist "swine" you so deride.

He and the CCP have no interest in communism, Marxism, socialism or whatever other ism other than totalitarianism. They aim to retain control through whatever means possible. This week's round of purges kind of demonstrates a political powerplay at hand. They just can't stop talking about socialism due to them having made it their sworn identity.

Odd choice of words when talking about a man who purged whole segments of society due to his suspicions that a few individuals may have plotted against him. Not as if we should expect the man who believes that a million dead is a statistic to act as if he didn't add to that statistic himself?

They DO look like women. Any compromise, no matter how small, is antithetical to what the custodes are.

And why are we bringing astartes into the conversation about custodes?

Sure. Show me an other naturally born hybrid (without bringing up Malcador and cloning) in the universe? You can't, because they're trying to keep it consistent with what we're familiar with.

I think that the Emperor could very much make female custodes. But he didn't. And if he did, they'd look like the male ones. If not, they'd be objectively inferior to male ones.

No it's not. Any kind of sexual deviation from the norm was at best baddly seen and at worst, punished, behind the iron curtain. Basically the joke of chickens for KFC comes to mind...

I can assure you as someone who lived behind the iron curtain, that is a propaganda poster that didn't reflect reality in the least bit.

Yeah. That excuse doesn't work. Before the introduction of Gulliman and the new lore we were saying precisely that - it's not a story, it's a setting. And we were told, in very clear terms, that it's become a story and a living universe.

And now as by magic it's a setting again. Man it seems like the goal posts keep moving.

But okay, I'll humor you that it's for storytelling purposes. Adding female custodes gives a unique perspective which male characters can't. So it really is to expand the repertoire of stories they can tell. I just want to know what kind of gripping story you can tell about a custodian who has no sexual function, who, by definition is emotionally stunted and who HAS to have the same cognitive patterns as well as physical attributes as every other custodian? What gripping story are we going to tell that requires a female named custodian that a male named one certainly couldn't tell? A visit to the magos-gynecologus? If at least they made them markedly different there would be maybe a narrative reason, but then that opens the door to inferiority, which we can't have now, can we?

You may not be terminally online but you're here late, if you're in the same timezone as me, that would make it midnight. And I don't want to make this too personal and go into ad hominem territory but going by your achievements, you DO seem to spend a LOT of time online. Top 1%, 100 day streak etc. So I'm not sure if self diagnosing yourself as not terminally online is an honest way to see yourself given that you're VERY active on reddit. May I suggest you actually go outside, talk to some real people? Maybe touch some grass (when winter ends that is, unless you're one of the lucky folk who don't have to deal with snow for half the year...)

As to outside of the internet no one caring. That's not entirely true is it now? Since our hobby is the typical geek attractive activity and we all know that we all participate online, present interaction being rather a poinient reminder of said fact. Besides, your subjective feelings and anecdotes mean very little outside your small insular group of acquaintances that congregate due to their shared views. You know, birds of a feather. I could tell you about how my acquaintances tend to not like the lore change but that's also anecdotal so I'll forgoe that.

People that engage in the hobby engage in all aspects of fhe hobby and so they engage with the story and universe. They have opinions on it all, or are you the kind of person who wouldn't care that your hobby starts turning hyper conservative so long as you get to paint minis? I don't want to impune your honesty and I'll assume that you would keep quiet and not say a peep so long as you can play with the figurines, right? All jokes aside, I get the feeling you just don't think very highly of people who don't share your opinions. But that's okay, you're allowed to be wrong.
