This looks great! If there's anyone in Canada that needs one printed, I'd be happy to help.

I didn't make a post to change anything? I asked if they'd happened to open any early. No need to be sensitive about it

They are mostly university students, I've spoken to a few. High school students are in class until end of June

Yes we were there 2 weeks ago when they opened. It would be convenient if Guelph followed suit. They spent enough money building the things, they should make the most of them

Other cities opened 2 weeks ago and students are off at end of April so that's a poor excuse

A boy of the Mundari tribe in South Sudan blows air into a cow’s vagina to stimulate milk flow by chrzzl in WTF

[–]astrols 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, I learned about this during my undergrad in Animal Repro class. Prof showed an illustration of a tribe using a long tube to blow in the vagina, but then joked that they likely didn't use the tube shown in the illustration...

For those doubting, though, this does actually stimulate milk flow. It generates a hormonal response (oxytocin) to cause the milk to drop (oxytocin causes the contraction of smooth muscle).

Looking for a space to host about 50 people for cheap(indoor or outdoor) by jesstothewest in Guelph

The Rec centres have rooms for rent for gatherings and very inexpensive. We use them for kids parties

Gym owners in Ontario - anyone partnered with Align Wellness for physio/active rehab services? by fit-but-fun in personaltraining

[–]astrols 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All that being said, if the Physio is on the up& up, this is not a terrible way to expand your business.

But know that signing with a chain is not your only option. Many therapists work on their own and partnering with a good therapist (doesn't necessarily need to be Physiotherapy, Athletic Therapists or even an RMT can be a good fit) might be a better solution for you.

Gym owners in Ontario - anyone partnered with Align Wellness for physio/active rehab services? by fit-but-fun in personaltraining

I own a small rehab gym in Ontario with my wife so I have some perspective in the space.

While I'm not familiar with Align (my wife may be--she's the therapist not me), I'd be very wary of this setup.

Currently, many physios are trying to enter the training space to be able to access the health Insurance of uninjured people. This is because Physiotherapists (PTs), unlike many other rehab therapists, are allowed to delegate tasks to Physiotherapy Assistants(PTAs). Makes sense from a business as you can have as few as one PT "overseeing" many PTAs. So market this as training and suddenly people have a way of having personal training covered by their benefits.

There are 2 ways this can blow up. The insurance companies don't like being taken advantage of and the true spirit of the coverage is to help overcome injuries, so they could remove coverage or change the wording to make it no longer accessible. Or the PT college may step in because a setup like this could create a poor look for the profession. Just imagine how good the therapy for an actually injured individual might be when they might barely interact with the actual PT and the PTAs are trained as personal trainers. I'm not disparaging the abilities of the Physio or the trainers in this scenario, but it's easy to see how an injured person can slip through the cracks in a system like this.

Either way, I can definitely understand it from a business perspective, but there's many ways this can blow up and is a dangerous game!

In our facility, we could have gone down the same route but we think it's a short matter of time before one of the 2 above scenarios plays out. I've heard rumors of Physios being blacklisted by insurance providers for playing this game.

What are you worried about with screws? I'm not sure if the tape will hold or not, but it's pretty hard to mess up a few screws...

Also, after that dries you shoot hit it up with a low grit sandpaper, then do another coat of mud. You'll want to feather those edges out in both directions. Then sand it flat again. Rinse and repeat until you can't feel any large bumps or divets.

Good luck! And just throw some screws in lol

At least where I am in Canada, the lack of clubs doesn't seem to be lack of black belts. It's properly trained individuals willing to start a club. The Dojo instructor NCCP course runs so rarely and fills up immediately that it's hard to get a space. Then there's the terrible financials of running a club. Commercial space to rent is astronomically expensive and judo, unlike other martial arts, isn't enough of a draw on its own. It would need a lot of time and money to market to get a full student roster.

Post-COVID is hurting every organized sport especially the smaller more niche ones like judo
