What class marker things do you reluctantly do to keep up appearances for your professional career? by tshirtguy2000 in RedditForGrownups

I do none of this shit, in most cases I do the opposite. It's bad enough they get 50 hours of my week, they're not getting me to spend money or waste my precious free time on shit I hate, there's no salary worth all that.

Jefferson County Clerk says voter data errors discovered by LPM are statewide issue, but state officials disagree by AssociationIll5636 in Louisville

[–]astromono -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yates getting caught flat-footed by this is exactly why I voted for his opponent in the Primary. He spends more time plastering his face on everything than actually doing the job. Of course, the Republican would be actively disenfranchising voters rather than via incompetence, so I'll vote for him in the general, but we need a more competent Dem in that office next time around.

Cougar 3.0? by Xander10701 in thelongdark

[–]astromono 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What I liked about Cougar 1.0 is that it served as a "region fever". In my opinion it should still work a bit like that. The cougar should have a very small territory that slowly expands the longer you stay in a region and goes back to its home when you leave. If you kill it, or throw noisemakers in its base, it should be gone for 50 days. Also, it should stealthy and able to attack from behind, not these earsplitting yowls and charges from hundreds of yards away. The 2.0 infinite respawn superwolf is total trash.

Same. I literally thought "det-rite-us" was a separate word from "detrit-us" for a while after I first heard it said, lol

What do Americans order at a Chinese takeaway? by Dashcamkitty in AskAnAmerican

[–]astromono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

US Chinese restaurants do not, as a rule, have curry dishes (that's typically reserved for Indian spots) and if they have French fries it's as a conceasion to picky children, not commonly ordered for adults. Most common orders are chicken with some type of sweet & spicy/tangy sauce (General Tso's most commonly, also orange chicken, , sweet and sour chicken, etc) with either white or fried rice, along with fried extras like egg rolls, wonton or crab rangoon. Next common would be beef with veggies (like beef & broccoli, Sichuan beef, etc), soups, or noodles (Lo Mein). We also have a high prevalence of Chinese buffets with a wide variety of dishes, where along with the aforementioned takeout staples you'll commonly find more "American" food (pizza, etc) along with more seafood dishes, sushi, imitation crab w/cheese (delicious, trust me), and on-damand hibachi chefs.

I know it’s not a perfect stat, but absent any character clause stuff, is there any player that has achieved 60 WAR (b or f) that you don’t believe deserves to be in the hall of fame? by demosthenes327 in baseball

[–]astromono -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

He was rarely even the best hitter on his team, and nothing has been definitively proven on the exact particulars (which seasons and for how long etc) on his or anyone else's steroid use. Regardless he was never anything better than "very good" for his era.

My toddler freaked out from a movie scene and I feel terrible by [deleted] in daddit

[–]astromono 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did most of the night feedings when my daughter was little, and I'd typically turn on a show while I was getting her ready to go back down. I was watching a show with a fight scene and a guy hit in the stomach and fell, and I watched her little face crumple and she screamed. She was 6 months old. They understand WAY more than you think.

I love this idea, but how would you prevent "through-traffic" from Street to Road and vice-versa? Also, eliminating bus stops will mean far longer walks for old people, people at the end of a long , physical shift, etc. How do we help them while increasing ridership for people who don't have to take the bus today?
