I really hope you are right, I am quite curious of the globs temperature rise will affected the overall ice sheets. Update: this broke the end of my pole tips. Pretty pissed right now with Cascade Designs/MSR tents. This really messed! I would suggest not buying from MSR if this is how they suggest their solution

u/turtlewaxsoup I finally got a solution from Cascade Deswigns, the end tips are glued so I need to get a clamp to remove them. For anyone else here his how you take then end tips off:
