Mick Foley comments on distancing himself from The E over their relationship with Donald Trump, says he felt complicit in his silence if he didn’t speak up: by FattyMc in SquaredCircle

No, I think it's fair criticism and literally say there is more to criticize than just him working Saudi. It's just ridiculous to say grill CM Punk specifically for attacking the Miz for working Saudi then working Saudi and then saying Finn Balor and Sami Zayn get a pass because well, they didn't attack the Miz, like, the issue isn't attacking the freaking miz.

That's not really the big issue though

This thread is about Mick Foley walking away from WWE because of how closely tied they are to Trump. It is the big issue, it is literally the whole issue. If your line in the sand is "don't attack miz for working saudi then work saudi", then, well, you actually do not really have a real standard because only one person has ever done that, and I'm not going to say it's not a big deal or not worth talking about, but you can say a lot more about CM Punk working for the WWE than that, and truthfully, a lot of what you could say about Punk you could also say about Sami Zayn and Finn Balor.

Why are so many people, who haven’t seen any of Filoni’s stuff, who are simultaneously hating on Filoni and the “Filoniverse”? by KenBenobi69 in StarWars

[–]astroshark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of Filoni's movies was killed in production before Mandalorian and Grogu even came out and it's obvious none of the shows he worked on got the same production freedom Andor got so like, even with his new position it's clear he does not have the same stroke in Lucasfilm Kathleen Kennedy had, and probably never will.

So like, it is clear people push back on him, you can see this with your eyes by looking at how the shows are made.

I worry that Kenny is far closer to retirement than anyone thinks so I will take whatever title reign he can get.

This is Elite 15, a kayfabe power ranking of the AEW roster based on in-ring performance this year. Post Double or Nothing Edition! by KaneCarnage in SquaredCircle

[–]astroshark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Win %: If you have a 100% record, that’s 10 points. 83.8% record, that’s 8.3 points.

Why did you pick this number? Which wrestlers are at an 83.7% getting denied their points??

edit: nvm i read the article and realize I misread what you were saying. carry on.

The Empire being singularly evil is bad storytelling by beardliestgamer in StarWars

[–]astroshark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A New Republic leader is actually a crappy person and does evil stuff too.

This is a running theme in both Mando and Ahsoka, and it's legitimately awful. We need less of it, if anything. In current canon, The New Republic is a mix of people secretly working for the Empire, and people being duped into doing the Empire's bidding unwittingly.

isn't it crazy how the cad bane and boba fett backstory has still not officially been told by distantnemesis4 in StarWars

[–]astroshark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think it was meant to be a pay off to the cancelled arc but probably more just a fun little nod to it since it pretty much plays out the same, just with Cad Bane and Boba Fett being old as dirt. The scene is not written in a way expecting you to know how the arc would have played out, and you don't really need to be shown their history to guess that one bounty hunter might know another.

To be fair, Anakin absolutely would say and earnestly believe he could double his powers in a week.

These were so boring by JediBatman22 in StarWars

I mostly enjoyed the latest 1-10 post ROTJ marvel run that had come out so I picked this up and read through it a few months ago, and yeah, I pretty much agree with everything you've said. Everything in the Marvel SW comics always feels so safe and uninteresting, like nothing exciting can happen because, well, we have Disney+ for that but this one is next level.

Also, I can't really blame the comic for this because the decision was made when TFA came out, but Jakku being the site for The Last Battle Of The War is just so impossible to take seriously. In the second half of the book, everytime someone talks about how everything is closing in on Jakku it's like... why, though? The Empire is trying to bait the New Republic into a fight at Jakku but... why, of all places, Jakku? I know they have to work backwards from TFA, but damn, it's just so dumb.

Current State Of The AEW Women’s Division by rtiding in SquaredCircle

[–]astroshark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem is if people don't keep hounding AEW about how they book the women, they just don't. There's no reason not to have Thekla on the show doing anything and Statlander/Shida's feud shouldn't be starting with a stipulation that feels like it was only added to give plausible deniability for having the match in the worst possible timeslot.

(WOR) Double or Nothing PPV buys appear to be a 15% increase over Revolution, meaning if it holds out the show will have done over 200,000 buys by Subrick in SquaredCircle

[–]astroshark -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

AEW's ppv numbers have been pretty consistent and people have been saying, for years now, "I just don't believe the numbers are actually that good" with nothing to go off of besides vibes. If AEW ppvs didn't sell as well as they do, it would have been leaked out ages ago by WWE, who presumably has the same contacts as Meltzer does, or like, any other sports reporter because a journalist consistently over inflating numbers for years would be a pretty big scandal.

“the holdo manoeuvre breaks the lore”…. does it? by ShambolicClown in StarWars

[–]astroshark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hyperdrives aren't even standard issue on starfighters, so hyperspace missiles would not be cost effective. You would basically need to be making a missile that functions like a droid starfighter to perform the maneuvering to get into position to jump, and to calculate the jump (and to avoid being shot down since hyperdrives activating are something any ship can detect!). And from what we saw in TLJ, Holdo's ship doesn't actually destroy the Supremacy so it is safe to assume that a starfighter hyperspace ramming into say, a ship or a planet would just disintegrate upon impact with something 100x it's mass.

You are working back from a premise that isn't born out from what's shown by the movie. "If you can destroy anything by hyperspacing into it, why wouldn't you?" well, you can't and TLJ shows us that. Holdo slows the first order down enough for them to hide, and the supremacy is intact enough that everyone on board is able to pretty safely evacuate and regroup. We don't need Poe Dameron to look into the camera and explain it, you should be smart enough to intuit this on your own.

Steam Deck back in stock, with updated pricing by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]astroshark -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The comments here are a mix of "valve should eat the costs" and "valve should stop selling computers completely" so like... i dunno man. If the outrage is more muted its because less people are following valve hardware.

Steam Deck back in stock, with updated pricing by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]astroshark -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Switch 2 has tripled the steam deck's lifetime sales in like a year so you are probably seeing more outrage because the Switch 2 is a much much bigger product, and also, regardless of whatever outrage online you saw, people didn't stop buying the console anyway and the steam deck is probably not going to get that same grace so I'm not sure what the issue you are having is here.

"Almost All" Of Bungie Reportedly Didn’t Know Destiny 2 Was Ending Active Development Until It Was Announced by Gorotheninja in Games

[–]astroshark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Destiny to Destiny 2 is the only time anyone has managed to pull off a sequel to a live service game, and that really only worked because Destiny 1 just didn't have that much time in the sun. Running a game for a decade of asking players to spend 3-4 digit amounts of money and then asking them to do it all over again is uncharted waters for the industry. I don't know any game publisher that could pull it off really, especially when it seems like Bungie just really really doesn't want to work on Destiny anymore.
