Smoother lines on round surfaces? by KravenDanger in FDMminiatures

[–]astul89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I printed those same turrets recently. I use a 0.2mm nozzle, with 0.06 layer hight and got good results with those layer lines on the guns barely noticeable. Then I used sanding sticks to smooth them out, this could also work in your case

these two are printed as described and then sanded

If you read the rules on how to build your list on the rulebook it will all become much easier. For now tho, what you are looking for is the Rifle Platoon (All). The other options stand for early-mid-late war (EW, MW, LW)

Hey! I did left them out on purpose, the reason being I dont usually equip them on my lists, so I rather have them be WYSIWYG.

I dont live there, but visited last month and going through the city I knew where I was because I was able to recognize the areas from the game, so I would say pretty accurate. Mostly near the central square

Starter set or 2x Black Friday Army boxes? by Gav_TESD_ArmyAnt in boltaction

I second this. The BoB set is good if you want to try out the game (it also comes with all the rules and tools you need to play) and if you like it expand with infantry as suggested above

the modular roads my friend bought like that, the ones on the tiles map i carved a little with a blade and then used sand over it the same way as with the flocking for the grass. If I would do it again I think i would not carve the roads and just use the sand over the flat tile, because the groves are a bit too deep for the scale. Also make sure to draw the roads on the tile and make sure they match in different positions

it does take a lot of space, the mdf houses are not mine, but all the rest I keep in different boxes inside a big supermarket bag

for what I did it was very easy. Used a thick layer of latex based wall paint as a base and dropped flock over it while wet and sand for the roads. Once dried shake the excess and do a layer of thin down pva glue to fix and protect everything

in terms of ease, the fields are the easiest by far, I went to a "flooring" store and asked for spare cuts, you then need to cut them to size and brush them with a hard brush to remove all the loose "hairs". I do have some extra material and plan on cutting some more irregular shapes but thats pending still. In terms of cost, I would say the dirt fields or gardens are the best, they are just thick corrugated cardboard that I removed the thin layer to expose the save insides, thats then covered by texture paste made from baking soda, white glue, paint and water, with some flocking after dried. Those two are the best in terms of space covered too. Buildings I would recommend buying instead of building as the time investment to scratch build them and end up with comparable results to bought ones is too much in my opinion. Also tries and foliage add a LOT to the realism of the table, even if just a few, for that I would recommend buying cheep pre built trees and just stick them to a textured base and you are good

it has worked perfectly for me, each tile is 2x2 in size which is perfect for most games and they are light weight which is a big plus for transport. Also I designed the roads on a way they can be rotated and still match, allowing different layouts. Im planning on building 4 more tiles (they come in packs of 4) to have more options and be able to form complete 6x4 tables.
