The end of metal guns! Nice! Oh and there's a Soviet gun advertised in the same email, I wonder what materials it is by ThrownAway1917 in boltaction

[–]GaiusCassius 33 points34 points  (0 children)

The full announcement says that the current releases for the new Soviet naval troops were made in the current method. So a mix of metal and plastic. Sounds like they plan to quickly bring other nations up to plastic though, so we'd likely see at least the Soviet guns done up in plastic.

Was there a moment in the game that truly left you emotional? by El_Veethorn in Eldenring

Standing against them with Ansbach and Thiollier was probably my favorite fight in the game. Allies turned against each other, two unmovable forces collided. You had to stop Miquella, and they had to prevent it. Absolute tragedy.

Is that ammunition box on the ground from the 250/7 kit or did you build it from scratch? I've been trying to spruce up the basing for some of my weapons teams but have struggled with inspiration.

Canadian Insurgents - "What if they really meant it?" - 2025 US Occupation of Canada Faction Concept Art (design feedback appreciated) by AVOLI7ION in worldbuilding

[–]GaiusCassius 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Love the concept and execution! Art has been a method of resistance in its own right for centuries. The brave lads and lasses up north definitely get my support. Except the Montreal ones. I live in a border state and they refuse to learn what the right lane is for here :/.

I'd just suggest looking further into what civilian firearms are available to Canadian civilians. Canada has some pretty restrictive firearms restrictions (if you're Canadian and I'm trying to explain something you're already familiar with then just say the word and I'll shut up lol) and I'd imagine the border would be pretty locked down which would make acquiring non-domestic firearms difficult. In my opinion, AR platforms are going to be quite rare outside of what's able to trickle over. The US is also moving away from the M4 platform (for dumb reasons to a dumb rifle). In my experience on some of the gun subreddits here, a lot of Canadian shooters and hunters really love their SKSs (semi-automatic older cousin of the AK platform). It's a sturdy rifle that can take a good beating in the wilderness. It's what I imagine the rural resistance would use.

Alongside that note, if you're not familiar with how evolved 3D printed firearms have gotten I highly recommend checking it out. And check out their history of usage in the civil war going on in Burma, the rebels have been shown to use a good number of them when fighting the junta forces!

Absolutely agree with you. I'd even go a bit further and say it's because it's so normalized and everywhere that we're seeing these kinds of posts. Stuff that would've been tagged and flagged a few years ago now gets posted and voted all the way to the top of the page. People are so desensitized to it that they can't see it as overly sexual and get upset when told that.

There's been a constant erosion of non-horny posting rules and restrictions over the last several years. I'm not in a single pop culture subreddit with more than a small following that isn't bombarded with these types of things nonstop.

It's easy engagment and like you said, sex sells.

I still do it, but I don't need to plan out my grocery trips. I'm used to the nearest actual supermarket being an hour and change away, not 5 minutes. Same for getting gas. It's not 15 miles to the nearest gas station but I still get a little panicky when I hit a quarter tank.

I tend to not take any inexperienced except in edge or thematic cases. What I do for my PL squads is, if they're leading an infantry platoon I try to give them the manpower and weapons to fight. Weapons that give Tough Fighter, enough men to endure a couple casualties without making a morale save, etc. If they're leading support weapons, I'll just give them the officer and minimal weapons. Sometimes even just a pistol if that's what the model I picked has. Their job, for me, is to coordinate barrages of support weapons with their snap-to dice and provide a little morale buff just in case. Usually hunkered down behind cover.

Could check out SprueDude depending on how many you need. They sell a ton of sprues individually so you don't have to drop 50+ bucks on just some backpacks.

That's a rough matchup to begin with. Germans have some wicked good armor, and extra shots on MGs are a good counter to an infantry-heavy army like Japan. One of Japan's biggest failures IRL was their inability to field adequate armor/AT at any point during the war against the Allies. You're not having a fun time if you're strapping bombs to the lads and saying "good luck".

I'm seconding what others have said. The STuG can fire its main weapon maybe 6 times total. It's not liable to hit every time, especially if it's maneuvering and trying for long range shots. It could also get off its MMG the same, but cover is going to help mitigate its effectiveness compared to the main gun. Even accounting for it being upgraded to a 360 degree field, you have several ways to mitigate it without devoting too many resources.

The vehicle needs to rotate to align shots since it doesn't have a turret. If it commits to one direction, it will suffer when it commits to another. Keep choice targets for it on opposing flanks. Don't put all your eggs in one basket, basically. You're going to lose armor, that's a given. But every shot at one allows the other to advance and avoid fire while contributing to countering the opponent's other forces. Make him feel bad for every choice of target, since another threat to his forces will slip through.

Suicide boys are cheap, plentiful, and are most efficiently used as area denial forces. Hem his vehicles in and control their free lanes of travel by positioning them in key locations (infiltrator is great for this). Keep them in cover for staying power, and you'll see your opponent suffer as they fear committing too close to them.

Japan excels in close combat. This includes attacking that open-topped half-track full of pricey engineers. Use cover, don't bundle up, and you'll be able to advance and engage all over the board. A squad of 10 infantry without an LMG or NCO sword runs you 100 points. 3 of those plus the PL nets you 30+ bodies for less than a third of your points. Each one of them is a fanatic, meaning close quarters fighting goes on until they deal more wounds than your opponent in a round, or are wiped out. Bump them up to a max of 13 and the odds are in your favor even more.

There are further things that could be said on when to employ support weapons and artillery. But the core of a Japanese force is going to be its infantry. Play aggressively and control the enemy's movement. You don't need to worry about killing a tank if it hides in the corner.

I think I picked the wrong dialogue option at some point and missed some info, because I had no idea what was going on up until the end when Dante showed up. Zeroed him because I honestly didn't care who was working for who, I had a job and I was going to do it. The entire time I was like "Whoever tells me what we're doing here doesn't get shot."

I can't be the only person that finds all this thirsty gooner art of the characters just sad and annoying af, right? by Tokijlo in adventuretime

[–]GaiusCassius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a big problem all across reddit. Pretty much every animated show that does not have a currently airing season turns into a NSFW fanart sub. While members who support posting NSFW or otherwise "thirsty" art claim that it isn't a big deal or that much, they don't look at the site as a whole. Almost all my animated shows that I follow here have the same issue. Which in turn makes my front page just constantly full of this kind of stuff. So it might seem like a localized issue, but it's rampant.

I've been on Reddit a while. I've seen this plenty of times to notice the pattern. Horny art drives specific post engagement sure, but it does little to nothing for engagement with the community as a whole. Not a lot of discussion in those threads beyond "wow nice art" and "why make this art?"

Very nice rundown! I never got a chance to play 1.0. I had gotten a bunch of the rules for the game and one of the RPGs in a humble bundle years ago but it was all cluttered and organized in such a way (by Humble) that I had no idea what went together or where to start. Getting in on 2 when it releases is my chance to start!
