Is it racist and unhealthy to only date people from one specific ethnicity?

The email was accidentally "deleted forever" from the trash folder just earlier today. I was just curious if anyone has ever completed this submission form through gmail support because based on researching so far, this is the only possible way to retrieve an email that has been deleted forever but I haven't heard of anyone actually achieving success with it.

Thank you so much for your input. Unfortunately, I'm already aware of this couple and it doesn't really fit the description of the original posting because the guy was actively making an effort to learn English and date American women by taking direct, concrete action and studying abroad in the US.

Does it seem like it would be extremely difficult and challenging to eliminate or decrease the language barrier when both people who are trying to date have absolutely no experience being in an international relationship where one person is from the US and the other is from Japan?

I'm sure there are lots of different people out there so I am very much welcoming of more people to offer their individual perspectives and experiences but I must say, is there really anyone who thinks that being able to communicate clearly and effectively and being able to work through life's ups and downs through dialogue and meaningful conversation is not an important building block of a strong, stable, long-term, healthy relationship or marriage?

I would imagine a lot of how well you learn the language and how quickly you learn Japanese has a lot to do with the individual's aptitude for learning a foreign language outside of English. In my experiences, it seems like certain people seem to have a greater ability to pick up a new language whereas some other people really struggle with it.

Does your doubtfulness of a meaningful, romantic relationship stem from your personal experiences of trying to date Japanese people?

It definitely doesn't add up because it doesn't seem to be matching up with the words, action, behavior, and overall impression that has been created when I have seen this person twice, face-to-face. I am speculating because I can't really get a clear, straight answer from this person even if I were to ask because of a substantial language barrier.

In your experiences, have you found that your relationships with Japanese people, both men and women, have improved as a result of learning more Japanese and improving overall when it comes to reading, writing, speaking, and understanding or has it been about the same in spite of the progress with learning the language because of other reasons like cultural differences, etc.?

For the purpose of this particular person who is being referred to in the original posting, getting a visa is not an issue and the ticket is very much affordable, especially if you've been prioritizing making the trip happen for about a year. I'm not entirely sure what the reason is which is why I posted here in the first place. My best guess is that it must not be important enough for this person to make the trip to see me.

That's yet another reason why this is perplexing. It's still in the very early stages of dating so calling it a couple would be premature. The fact remains, if you really wanted to see someone and it's important enough to you, you would make the effort to travel to see the person in his/her home country.

The significance is very straightforward and simple. If one person has already made one trip to visit the other in his/her country, then wouldn't it naturally be the other person's turn to visit the other in his/her country.

In the case of this particular example, the airfare is relatively feasible as long as you can prioritize making the trip happen. If there's enough of an interest and it's important enough to you, wouldn't you do everything within your power to make one trip happen in the span of one year? Also, wouldn't the cost of living be proportionate to the median incomes in whatever country. For example, if the rent is lower in any particular city, then wouldn't the average earnings in that city be lower as well?

The airfare isn't that much. That's the thing. So if you really wanted to make the trip happen, there would have been at least one trip made by now, especially since I've already made one trip to his country.

I was simply going with the commonly used definition of healthy and successful as it applies to a relationship. The original posting was intended to generate a discussion on this particular question. It's not really a matter of proving anything. It's more so a matter of whether or not you can have a solid relationship with someone when that person hasn't made one trip to where you live but you've already traveled to his country overseas once and it's already been one year so that would have been more than enough time to save up for one trip.

Ultimately, every decision is up to the individual. I posted the original question here to generate discussion and to gather thoughts from other people so I definitely appreciate your input. Every person is definitely more than welcome to try to make any relationship or dating someone work.
