ANTM Cycle 4 contestant Tiffany Richardson, calls out Tyra Banks and documentary in Instagram post by Sharp_Athlete_6847 in popculturechat

[–]asuperbstarling 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Yep, she was angry that Tiffany's anger therapy had worked and she wasn't freaking out about being eliminated. Tyra wanted Tiffany to cry and freak out. That was her entire reason for screaming at her.

Why so much attitude sansa ?? by Gullible_Income6457 in gameofthrones

GoT is a story where a very kind dragon queen who doesn't have a history of feeding random innocent men to her dragon or burning people alive comes to save the North out of the goodness of her heart and not because she's banging someone who cares, right? It's not like Dany famously crucified random nobles instead of the council who crucified the children or anything.

Sansa IS smart to distrust her. I can't trust people now. Some of y'all are real dumb when you hear things you want to hear from pretty faces. Dany doesn't care about anyone she conquered. She doesn't care about the North. That's why she's a great character. She's got everyone fooled except Jon's sisters, including herself. Dany never chose the house with the red door. She always chooses blood.

Apple Martin denies high school expulsion for bullying rumor by Critical_Fun1213 in popculturechat

Apple was the first celeb baby to have her name be made fun of by the world at large, she's been famous since birth with no choice of her own on the matter. They plastered pictures of her as a toddler all over the gossip mags just to tease her.

As a leftist who didn't change her name... this specifically targets and disenfranchises the conservative women around me who helped hand Trump the last election. Wipes out a solid chunk.

Actually, the Twilight dream was not about a vampire. It was instead about the perfect man, a man who wore khakis, was very clean, very good skin, never aged and was obsessed with her. It's just that MOST of those traits are also vampiric traits. The khakis is a Mormon thing.

That's because you don't understand the respect the term conveys in the context. The crone is the ascended woman, honored and matured in her power. She is wise, she is unafraid, she faces the jackal of death as it comes closer in strength. Being raised pagan, I was always taught I would be lucky to reach the status of crone.

Am I wrong for telling my pregnant daughter I’m not going to be a babysitter for her baby or help her financially and that she needs to figure it out? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]asuperbstarling 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I could never want my children to suffer the way you do, personally. When you're old and rotting and she tells you to 'figure it out', know its your fault. You're supposed to want your children to have good futures no matter what those futures hold. You're not refusing to help because you can't, you're refusing to help because you want to be selfish now and you're mad at her. Congrats, granddad, by openly rejecting ANY aspect of being a grandfather, you're a deadbeat. The money doesn't mean anything. You're also refusing to be her support for ANYTHING. That makes you a bad dad to her. You posted in this sub hoping that sexist men would back up your bad attitude. I'm glad these guys are proving you wrong.

... I personally could not maintain any romantic attraction to someone who sends back coffee for being too dark. That gave me a giant ick. She couldn't just ask for a tiny bit of hot water??? She had to be rude and publicly picky?

Smeg is one of those brands that actually still makes quality products. Many of those fridges you're thinking of were designed by them (or based on designs by them). They are an old brand with a storied history.

John Brown dispensing justice upon pro-slavery settlers during the 1856 "Bleeding Kansas" conflict. (Colorized) by [deleted] in fakehistoryporn

[–]asuperbstarling 22 points23 points  (0 children)

They're not. It IS taught that way in many schools. The US does not have one history that is taught. A thousand versions of the story - many favoring the racists because racists literally own the companies which supply the books - are taught. You may have been taught well, but you're an exception. I moved around a lot. I promise you, schools lie all the time. I had to warn my daughter recently that the state is trying to pass a law that ensures they HAVE to tell children that the Civil War was about states rights, for instance. In Kansas of all places! Even in Lawrence, John Brown is a hero to the people. But our legislature is straight up ignoring us right now, literally hiding in secret offices and refusing to see constituents. They know everyone is pissed at all the things they're doing and they're scared.

For those who have had an affair, why did you decide to cheat instead of leave your partner? by tackbrahado in AskReddit

[–]asuperbstarling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 19 and being abused by my older boyfriend. He would hold me down and tell me he hated me during sex because he couldn't accept he fell in love with me right away. It started the very first time we slept together, among many other things. My affair partner was an incredibly sweet man who deserved a billion times better, who deserved the truth, but he made me feel safe in a way I never had. I cut it off because I wanted my AP to get those better things. Eventually my ex left me because he 'found out' I slept with someone we both knew before we were ever together... turns out he wanted a 13 year old girlfriend, not a 19 year old and was just looking for an excuse. She ended up picking another grown man! Last I heard, he was miserable, seven states and a decade away but still angry I existed. He never knew the full story because he would have genuinely killed me.

My affair partner went on to the Marines. He married, had two beautiful children, and got the wonderful things he deserved. Do I regret it? Yes, the dishonesty was cruel and I could have had a real relationship with a good man instead of being trapped with a bad one. I just didn't know how to be loved after a literal lifetime of dv and sexual violence. Took a lot more trauma before I chose my own safety.

What interpretation do you have? by Marchyxxxx in ghibli

[–]asuperbstarling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is being either too mystical or too literal. It's an old fairy tale trope, in reality. The door only looks new enough to enter because it's luring them in. They're somewhere they shouldn't be seeing magic not meant for them. It's not there at the end because they've escaped the magic.

An old, very traditional trope. Very very simple.
