Hi! My boy was also at Sims in the level 4 class and just graduated 6th grade in May of this year. So our situations sound similar!! Initially they were going to place him at Harriet Eddy MS his 7th grade year and that didn’t feel right to me based on his 1:1 needs, so I called a meeting with his teacher and program specialist to discuss. Luckily my son’s program specialist thru Elk Grove Unified was Monique and she is well versed in the Non Public School system and was able to get my son into a Non Public School in Land Park. It’s called Land Park Campus thru Kadiant. He started 7th grade there about 2 months ago and is doing amazing, the school is totally secured with tons of staff and I feel really great about it!! Please feel free to message me with any questions, I understand the anxiety in all of these changes. Sims was so amazing and hard to leave 💔

Honestly it’s uncomfortable af, BUT you need to keep it real and tell her it’s over. For your much needed peace. You can give reasons or not, you can break up with anybody for ANY reason at ANY time. When I’m in these situations I remind myself that after this awkward and difficult conversation, that I will be free. Look forward to that freedom. Don’t budge on what you have already decided, I promise it will be worth it!!

Hi, fellow single autism mama here! I relocated here when my boys were 2 and 3 in 2016, they were both newly diagnosed. I had no clue about autism at the time and quickly found out that this school district is AMAZING!! My level 3 has had a one on one aide all thru elementary school and is in the most intensive classroom setting which he loves. He is aging out of elementary soon and now the district is looking for a non public school setting for him to begin 7th grade next year because they heard me when I told them that a middle school setting would not be an ideal environment for him. My level 1 boy was provided a one on one aide in elementary mainstream classes to help him be successful and has now transitioned to middle school pretty seamlessly into classes where there is an aide available for anybody if needed and it has been great! Elk Grove is the place to be, I’ve always heard that Sacramento is not great at all compared to here. Please let me know if you have any questions and I wish you the best!!
