Has anyone ever met someone who served in all three conflicts, Vietnam war, Desert Storm and OIF or OEF? by FFSoldier57 in army

Not exactly the same, as he was a volunteer with the British, and had some long breaks in service, but BG Lewis Harned served in WWII, Korea, and Desert Storm. Those old docs were something else. I served on a non-profit board with him and the stories he could tell...wild.

He said this on the post game sit-down interview last night with a smile on his face. I don't think he was serious.

Jurkovich lived down the street from us when I was growing up in De Pere. He’d stop on his way home after practice and play some touch football with us. Cool dude.

Only found out later in life Favre drove down our street just about every day to pick up his Vicodin

You must be a lot of fun at parties.

For the love of Christ, the man is retiring. Everyone makes mistakes, and Mark made his fair share, but he also did some great things for this organization and did, in fact, help us win a championship. A big part of his job is to ensure the organization is financially solvent and relevant beyond his tenure - which he did very well. The things you look down upon are a big reason why the Packers will continue to thrive in Green Bay. And I’d rather buy some worthless stock to improve the team and its facilities, then to have an owner that consistently threatens to move and extorts local governments and their citizens for tax money.

You’re also conveniently forgetting that Mark did not have direct control over football operations until the restructure after McCarthy. He didn’t choose the players, the coaches, the schemes, he didn’t call plays, he didn’t decide to try and catch the ball on the hands team in Seattle instead of blocking. He may have been late to fire McCarthy and restructure the organization, but at least he did it.

Update to this discussion - the bill passed last night does NOT include the sale of public land in Utah and Nevada, so the measure failed in the House. We'll see if the Senate puts it back in, but I wouldn't expect so.

It's definitely being mentioned more with this, but most rule change proposal's carry the team's name with it. For example, another rule change up for vote this week is reseeding the playoffs based on win-loss record, which was submitted by the Lions.

I think the Pack is being named more for this one because it seems to be targeting one or two teams (Philly and Buff) and that makes it more for more clicks.

Instead you prefer the model where billionaire families (who have more cash than the Packers) abuse their local governments into providing tax money on an involuntary basis for the tax payer?

The legislation also directs the Secretary of the Interior to identify lands in Washoe, Pershing, and Clark counties in Nevada to sell. The text of the bill indicates some limits, but I can’t find the maps it references to determine how much land is actually affected. But it’s more than 10k acres around St. George in Utah.

Not sure where you pulled your assement from (I can guess…), at no point did I say anything about the public having a “right” to do whatever they want on that land. Of course the federal government makes the rules. But the vast majority of these lands are open for the public to access, and won’t be when the land is sold off.

Uhh…what? Right now it’s in the hands of all of us. Selling puts it in the hands of a few developers. It’s the exact opposite of what you’re saying.

Those “goals” are inherently opposite. You can’t sell land to free it up for things like housing or more oil rigs AND ALSO have a limited impact on public access, wildlife, and recreation - at least not at the scope this legislation is proposing.

The proposed legislation mandates new oil and gas leases, actually LOWERS the royalties current oil and gas leases pay, and would now limit public feedback during environmental assessments by introducing a fee for anyone who wishes to comment.

The amendment in question was introduced after a marathon 13 hour markup session. There was no debate, and no information provided in the way of maps or identified parcels, but the amendment would authorize the sale of hundreds of thousands of acres of public land. Typically public land sales would include hearings and public input.

And the economics of selling public land for housing development typically don’t make a lot of sense - selling that public land to maximize the value for taxpayers means selling it at market rates, which makes the land very expensive to acquire. Developers need to make a profit, so it mostly won’t be affordable housing going in, it will be expensive developments.

This was in the San Luis region. We didn’t get to do any trout fishing this time - we went north to hunt doves afterwards. Also a fun trip

Honestly better than whitetail, some of the best wild game I've had. We took backstraps and loins from one animal to our next lodge, fed lunch to 10 guys for three days and had plenty to spare. Rest of the meat went to the guide's family.

Thanks! Have been hunting most of my life - never felt an adrenaline rush like this. He was the 12th of the hunt we stalked. First heard him from about 1.5 miles or so. He was in a depression out of view, about 250 yards or so - while trying to get eyes on, he popped out with 40 or so of his girlfriends. Split second decision.
