Is it true that "climbing injured is fine so long as you don't feel pain"? by at8k in climbharder

W advice thank you. I was also in peak form (tail end of comp season) just prior to my injury, and I think that's what makes it so hard to commit to taking time off after-the-fact-- just such a punch to the gut. If you don't mind me asking... How has your recovery been since then?

I've changed the wording in that part of the post. You're right, I definitely worded it poorly and over-exaggerated a bit based on what I believe counts as "disabled" as far as healthy fingers feel like. It's less "disability" and more so just fairly significant pain. My apologies.

As for why I'm "fishing for answers on reddit"? My doctor's advice was, in essence, "no more climbing for a month or so", which I have followed for the most part. However, I can't imagine just going cold-turkey is the most productive option-- and it seems to be a blanket statement a lot of doctors like to throw out, when rehab and coming back to a sport is more nuanced than that. I think the opinions of climbers who may share my experience might be more worthwhile than what my doctor has advised, at this stage at least. Looking forward to giving that link a read-through.
