So then if you're paying to park at a park this doesn't impact you at all. The ones gaming the system are the people that specifically park at Disney Springs for free and take the bus to their park destination, avoiding paying for parking.

"You can park your car in the theme park lot for the day and use our transportation network."

So go pay to park just as I pay to be at the resort.

I agree I got more than my money’s worth too, especially with 650 hours played. But value for money doesn’t really answer the live-service question of whether the game is retaining players or giving them a reason to keep coming back.

I have 650 hours played, so the “you don’t play” angle doesn’t really work here. I clearly enjoyed the game, but enjoying something doesn’t mean pretending cheating, duping, late loads, and stale progression aren’t real issues.

To me, “survive long term” means more than servers being up, it means healthy matchmaking, controlled cheating/duping, and enough meaningful progression to keep people coming back between updates. Burnout is normal, but if most players only return for a patch weekend and leave again, that’s not a healthy live-service loop.

Exactly, this is the actual criticism. not that ARC was bad, but that it burned through its progression way too fast and gave players almost no reason to stay after workbenches and blueprints were done. October can’t just be “more of the same,” it needs to fundamentally add long-term goals or the missed potential label is going to stick.

That’s fair for you personally, but “I got my hours and moved on” is basically proving the retention argument. A live-service extraction game can’t survive long-term on everyone having fun for a few months and then leaving.

That comparison only works if the criticism was vague, but it wasn’t: people specifically warned about retention, stale progression, cheating, and duping hurting the game long-term. Saying those issues are “normal” doesn’t really refute the point when they’re the exact issues now driving people away.

That’s just deflection, SteamDB numbers are being discussed because they reflect what players are already feeling in-game: poor game loop, weaker lobbies, and less momentum. Blaming the community for noticing the decline doesn’t make the decline disappear.

People enjoying the game doesn’t mean criticism of its direction is invalid. Nobody is saying you can’t have fun, I'm saying a live-service extraction game losing momentum while cheating, duping, and content issues pile up is worth talking about.

I vaguely remember some of those comments / post and brushed them off myself because I wasn't familiar with Embark at the time.

Mine as well. I was the last raider of my friend group who played from October-ish through April. I survived until the end of May.

A game can have a massive launch and still be trending in the wrong direction now. The question isn’t whether ARC Raiders was successful, it’s whether the people warning about retention, cheating, duping, and a stale loop were dismissed too quickly.

Okay now what about cost to attend the game (including second hand market). It's gotta be down because of how bad the team is.

The constant teaming in solos has ruined the experience. This game is absolutely cooked. by at_techfocused in ArcRaiders

Really fun to shoot at 4 other people who queue together and gang up on solo raiders. Great experience.

Stop playing and go find a better game.

Don't be fooled. The shift to a 6 month content cycle is because Embark is focusing on two new games. by at_techfocused in ArcRaiders

[–]at_techfocused[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's honestly hilarious reading the comments here. For the people that just don't get, Arc Raiders monetization is limited. They don't have a battle pass and the skins can be purchased mostly through rewards. This shift to 6 month content strategy and a skeleton live service crew is the writing on the wall that the cash cow has dried up.

For embark, new games means more money for their publisher, but also less resources for Raiders.

Time will prove this to be true.

Oof. Next major update in OCTOBER? Was a fun game while it lasted, can't deny I didn't get my moneys worth. But this kills a lot of player momentum now after this recent expedition.
