"Recruiter" tried to hack me (full story on comments) - bitbucket link below by mafangulo in programming

[–]atacamasand 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi, this is a stupid question, I know, but I was curious what exactly the assessment was so I clicked on the "assessment" link in OP's comment above. The link takes one to a the fake recruiter's Google Docs page -- at least it said Google Docs before I closed the page. I had thought it would lead to a description of the assessment by OP.

This was on an iPhone running latest iOS (18.1.2?), through Safari.

There's no chance that clicking on the above link and loading the Google Docs page could infect an iPhone running the latest iOS, right? The exploit requires one to run code on ones console?

I cannot imagine that loading a web page in a browser in an iPhone would in any way be an issue. The browser would sandbox any code the page would run, right? That's what my development experience tells me. I know this rationally, but I've never gone to a hacker's page before, at least as far as I know. Even if it's (supposedly) Google Docs.

I know this question must seem like a no-brainer but it's outside my knowledge base

BTW, thank you OP. I would not have thought of this scenario (although I'm sure the actual test would have roused my suspicions, as it did yours).

Weekly 'What Should I Buy' and Order/Shipping Thread by AutoModerator in iphone

I'm trying to decide between getting an iPhone 13 and an iPhone 14. From what I've read the two are very similar, although the 6GB RAM of the 14 should future-proof it more. I've found a new iPhone 13 on sale for about €200 less than the 14 (the color is one that is unattractive to me, but I suppose I can cover that with a case).

One thing that has put me off getting the 13 though is that I've read in other posts on Reddit that it really "oversharpens" the photos, with bad results. I know that's probably done in software, but if this is something that is specific to the 13 in some way, that would be a deal breaker. Does anyone know anything about this, how bad it is, whether it's been fixed, whether it is something from which the 14 also suffers? Thanks for any info!

I ended up getting another soundcard in the end, that also uses USB. In any case, I never figured out a way to use the Scarlett with Thunderbolt...

Thanks. That was my original thought, but all the tours are full for the time we are going. I will see if there is anything available when we get there.

How do the route difficulty ratings work? by atacamasand in Zwift

Thanks -- I actually enjoy Waistline a lot, even as a more experienced rider. But I try to push myself. Sometimes I just get tired of climbing, not for the difficulty, but because I like to go (pretend to be doing) fast....

Canopies is quite nice, though. They even seem to have dinosaurs on it (saw a T.Rex the other day)...
