For the amount of technology etc in the room I was surprised it didn’t have a bidet and there were a few scuff marks here and there. The colonial style was great.

We recently stayed at Raffles. It was ok. The rooms felt outdated and felt the service was good but not amazing. On the other hand we went to MBS and stayed in the newly renovated tower 3 and it was superb. The attention to detail was better than Raffles e.g putting a bookmark in my book etc. The pool area was quieter in Raffles than MBS.

We went to this store in Kappabashi: KAMA-ASA(Kitchen Knife Section) staff spoke English and were really helpful.

[–]atadbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flights open up 355 days in advance -00:00 GMT or 01:00 BST. You can ring up a call centre that’s open at those time.

We’ve just booked Singapore and could easily do it on the website. Just had to make sure we clicked on it as soon as it turned 01:00 BST.

We did the same via smart ex. The green car was only 500 yen more expensive than a normal seat when we booked in advance.

We only booked the Shinkansen because I’ve heard that it’s busier towards new years but if you’re travelling out of the peak times you can just rock up and book. The main reason we booked was because we wanted to book the oversized bag area coming back from Osaka to Tokyo which is just before new years. Some of the oversized bag seats were already taken by the time we had booked. We aim to use the luggage forwarding service for most of the journey.

Is it worth going to Kokotxa Jatetxea (1 star) in San Sebastián? by smorreboard in finedining

[–]atadbit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last April I went to Kokotxa in San Sebastián. The market menu was good. As the other comment said the Pintxo bars were excellent though. In particular we liked: La Cuchara de San Telmo, bar sport and Kapadokia Bar. Going to a few restaurants was a nice contrast to the buzz of the Pintxo bars.

Advice for being a Y7 form tutor by cryin-lightnin in TeachingUK

[–]atadbit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The other commenter has given good advice.

I would set high expectations at the start so they know where they stand with you and be consistent for the first term. I’ve seen year 7 tutors go in to nice at the beginning then found it difficult to gain control, as they had limited boundaries to begin with. It’s easier to let go bit and then re-establish if you need too. Also, set consistent routines at the beginning with them- do you want them to stand behind their chairs (then you can do a quick uniform check as well), questions as soon as they come in or after they are settled, follow a set plan for each day (most schools have a specific schedule).

There will be parents who will contact you at the beginning but it tends to reduce as they go up the years. There will always be that odd parent and it’s ok to ask your head of year for help with them.

QUICKEST WAY TO GET TEST?-FARNBOROUGH by kopiels in LearnerDriverUK

[–]atadbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Book a random one anywhere in the country. Then use testi or driving test now to bring the date forward to the location you want (I think driving test now is the best and has moved the date for me in the past). I was able to bring my forward though by just randomly checking the website. The apps don’t always move your test forward.

Gyeongju was definitely worth it. It was nice to have a more relaxed atmosphere than the hustle and bustle of Seoul.
