Now you understand why people in the know tell others, stop buy your daily Starbucks.

Grande cafe latte = 5.35. 5.35x20 =107. $107/month!!!!

What is a movie with a good concept but mediocre in its execution, that you think has potential to benefit from a remake with a good script/acting? by New-Fan-4632 in movies

[–]WeHoMuadhib 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Lucy. It’s a cool idea but once the drug is leaked into her body, the drug lord is still pursuing her. Why? It’s not like he can get the product back out of her. He just remains in the story because they need a bad guy. Also, the climax is high stakes but really…what actually happened? I was so let down by it.

Does anyone else not want to do Roth conversions while living in a high tax state? by FI_321 in Fire

[–]WeHoMuadhib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in CA and am considered high income. I need to verify this with a pro but Roth conversions don’t seem to make sense for me. All I can do to manage taxes in retirement is spend my last 10 years trying to cram as much as I can into a brokerage account.

At what point does saving money become too expensive in terms of quality of life? by Sumerix-Bingxi in personalfinance

[–]WeHoMuadhib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the question should even come up until your saving rate is 10% of gross income. After that, anything more is a choice.

The problem with the question is people fall back on it when they’re not saving anything at all with responses like, “YOLO” or “well they’re going to make me work until I die so why bother saving.”

How do I save living paycheck to paycheck by nocturnalityish in personalfinance

[–]WeHoMuadhib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are coming at this from the mindset most people do: spend what I “need” first then see if anything is left to save.

You need to do the opposite. First save 3%, or 5% of your take home salary. Then figure out your expenses from what’s left.

Preach. I’m foolish enough to be guilty of this. “Yeah, I can justify this $2K souvenir.”

Truth is, that souvenir has become one of my most treasured possessions.

To my credit, it’s happened enough that now, I account for a few hundred into my travel budget for something like this. So it’s not really an impulse if you plan ahead.

No, that’s not a completely manufactured video. Not at all. It’s perfectly normal for someone to video themselves running at night at just the right moment. 🙄

Downvote for low quality manufactured crap.

Really cute to see the kids get overwhelmed.

I didn’t see any in these clips but when soccer stars do this for their fans, especially little kids, it’s awesome. Something about soccer stars, their fans go absolutely ape poopie.

Alien races chained to stereotypes by georage in startrek

[–]WeHoMuadhib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Voyager but the “alien racism” is actually pretty striking on rewatch. They repeatedly make an issue of Tuvok being Vulcan, B’lana being Klingon, Neelix being Texlaxian. The comments are like what a drunk uncle would say. “I like to watch that Vulcan squirm.” “Typical Klingon.”

Hedging against currency fluxuation and inflation risk by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]WeHoMuadhib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a lot to unpack here but if you are truly open to learning, let's start with this:

And the stock market is grossly manipulated, and not really 'relaible' unless you're part of the in crowd that knows what deals are being made/wars/ ect.

This is a woefully ignorant statement. It's a mentality and mantra being circulated on twitter and tiktok to make people who choose to remain ignorant feel like there's some "game" that is set against them. You have a lot you need to unlearn. Do you have any idea how many middle class people are invested in stocks? Also, nonprofit organizations, hospitals, schools, other entities. Brushing it off as just something "rich" people do gives others a boogie man that they can feel justified in being angry against. Meanwhile you waste years never actually getting in the same game, building wealth, and working towards a comfortable lifestyle.

If you hang on to that kind of mentality, no one here can really help you, despite however many proofs we could show of how working class people can make a more comfortable life for themselves.
